Friday's notes: Accentuate The Positive
So what do we take away from last night's 6-5 win by the Nashville Predators at Vancouver? There were enough highlights in that one to provide a storyline for just about everybody, from the stellar (Colin Wilson, Anders Lindback) to the... well... not so stellar (Kevin Klein & Jack Hillen). I suppose the bottom line may be that a win like this can provide for a nice springboard - the coaches have plenty of material with which to point out mistakes and focus on improvement, some of the forwards may get a jolt of confidence after potting a few goals, and the team took an unlikely two points in the standings at the same time.

Unfortunately our defense is in the crapper.

goals
So the Van blogger talked about how only one of our 6 goals were good and the rest were the fault of their bad defense from the Def and Forwwars. However all 5 of their goals were great…I cannot log onto Hockey buzz but can someone else please do and tell him hes full of crap and a homer. Give me a break. So annoying.
Nice choice of tune-age Maestro Dirk
I was inspired to have a few martinis while reading this morning’s hockey news. After a few, I could actually tell those Sedin brothers apart for once. It’s easy…Henrik’s just a little uglier.

The positive I took from the game is we did not fold the tent when it became 5-3…..We could have easily mailed it in. So the effort was there, if the excution was off. Kudos on the effort.
Even though we draft much more on the defensive end than the offensive, it is apparant when we go against what I will call the premium teams ( Van, SJ, Det) we need a dman who can clear the net. Our D isn’t physical., I know, I know, we have Weber, but on the whole they are not a physical bunch. Maybe the Cube could make the difference, but I don’t think so.
My hockey team is better than your hockey team
Realignment
Why has nobody addressed the issue of Vancouver being in the Northwest Divison and Dallas being in the Pacific?
If either Detroit or Columbus goes to the East, why wouldn’t Dallas rotate to the Central, Vancouver to the Pacific, and Winnipeg to the Northwest? That seems like the most logical thing to do? A straight Det/Cbus swap for Winn doesn’t make sense.
Of course if we go back to the Wales & Campbell conference formats, this is a moot point. But I don’t believe the East is going to give up their cushy travel schedules.

I'll take Sulzer back if they don't want him in Vancouver! Send 'em Laasko.
