Please Help a Girl's Fantasy Team?
I am so sorry to be asking for advice on here but I've been sitting here for too long trying to decide what move to make on my fantasy roster. This is my first year to ever have a team and I've been doing pretty well but am having a hard time making a decision tonight. I currently have 6 Centers. (5 Active - Honey Badger, Jason Spezza, T.J. Oshie (C/RW), Ryan Getzlaf, and Patrice Bergeron and 1 on IR - Mike Richards) He is more than likely coming off of IR tomorrow, so I need to drop a player and feel like it needs to come from C. I also have 3 LW/RW, 2 RW, 6 D, and 3 G. I appreciate any input! Thank you!!

My only piece of advice is to drop 2 defensmen. Unless your league has 6 starting defensmen slots, there’s no point in carrying 2 extra. Think of it in raw numbers:
An elite defensman will score 40-50 points. An average forward will average those points. You can get way better production from forwards than blueliners. You don’t need a good blueline to win in fantasy hockey, as there’s no actual defending.
Now, as for your center issues: Put the word out that you could be making deals. Wait for Oshie to run a point streak, then trade him while his value is high.
Just be careful that you don’t drop someone for the name of Mike Richards. The Kings are dead last in the league in offense, so maybe you can deal Richards to someone desperate for a name.

Thank you SO much!! I had been wondering if 6 was too many defensemen. I have Weber and Suter. So when they’re not playing, I tend to have empty spots a lot of nights. That was the only reason I’d added another. Again, thank you!! I will start thinking about trading Oshie and Richards as well.

Who are your defensemen? RW? LW?
6 D is probably too many, yes, but do you get credit for defensemen points and all? If so, with you having a team pair of D, your numbers come out low each time that team has a small amount of games during the week.
I don’t know if you have a category head to head setup, a points head to head setup or rotisserie. That also is key to what you do.
It’s just a points setup. I had no clue what the difference was and wanted to make my first team as easy as possible. :-) I do get credit for D points. I cut a Dman last night, so in addition to the Centers, I’m down to:
LW/RW – Steve Downie, Rick Nash, Semin
RW – Hornqvist, Clutterbuck
D – Weber, Suter, Bieksa, Kronwall, Schenn
G – Pekka, Garon, Hedburg

Yeah, I’ve been watching waivers but nothing has been coming up. I may include a request if I do a trade.

Not a problem. I actually put out a Fantasy Primer for my friends who are just starting the game. If you want, I can e-mail you the primer so you have a better understanding of how to successfully play fantasy hockey.

That would be great! I read something that somebody (I think Dirk?) did but at the time had no clue what I was reading so it did me no good. I’ve followed hockey for years but felt like I was in over my head starting out with this. Haha Anyway, my email address is shannac77@gmail.com
Thank you!

are you playing rotisserie or head-to-head?
in rotisserie leagues there’s usually a max amount of games allowed, and that will affect how you set your line-up. i would keep extra d-man and one extra forward.
its best to have more depth with your goalies since most a lot of teams use more of a rotation than the teams with established #1 goalies. for example, i had chicago’s crawford to start the year, but he’s been inconsistent, so emery has been getting more time lately, so i’ve got both chicago goalies to go along with peks and brian elliot.
basically, if your goalies are in a rotation, it would be a good idea to pick up both goalies on the team and try to keep up with who’s starting each night.
I think it’s just points, nothing fancy. :-) That is a very good tip for the goalies! I’m not sure why I hadn’t thought of it.
All of you are helping so much!!
