Blake Geoffrion assigned to Milwaukee Admirals

The Nashville Predators have sent Blake Geoffrion back to the AHL, after last night's callup for winger Gabriel Bourque, and they've also confirmed the news from last night that Kevin Klein has been moved to Injured Reserve. The following just arrived from the team:

Nashville Predators President of Hockey Operations/General Manager David Poile announced today that the club has reassigned forward Blake Geoffrion to Milwaukee (AHL) and placed defenseman Kevin Klein on injured reserve.

Geoffrion, 23 (2/3/88), has three assists in 22 games for the Predators this season, and one assist in three games for the Admirals.

Klein, 27 (12/13/84), has missed the past four games due to illness.

This season certainly hasn't gone well so far for Boomer, as he's struggled to earn more than a 4th-line role and battled injuries along the way. All eyes will be on Bourque as he plays in his first NHL game tonight against Minnesota.

Well, so much for the speculation that something is afoot due to the Bourque call-up. It’s just business as usual for the Preds.

I do wonder about the Klein to IR move, however. They didn’t need to do that to make room for the Bourque/Geoffrion switch.

That is a strange one. Especially for the Flu, if that is indeed what’s wrong with him.

by Predaceous on Dec 28, 2011 12:22 PM EST up reply actions

We call a lot of things the flu that aren’t really influenza. The real honest to God flu can be some awful stuff with primary symptoms lasting 2 weeks or more.
There is also a stomach virus going around that has landed 2 young, generally healthy, people I know in the hospital, so flu is a definite possibilty.
As far as I can tell the Preds almost always wait until someone has been out for 10 days to put them on IR, then make it retroactive, so I don’t see that move as uncharacteristic at all.
I get that some people think they are “hiding” that Klein is concussed, but I don’t know why they would announce Weber’s but not Klein’s.

It could be worse.

If he did not do what the docs told him the flu could of easily turned to pneumonia.

on the upside, Klein is even in his plus minus since being placed on IR

60% of the time it works every time

Really strange stuff.

Starting to grab at straws it appears.

I think Poile caught lightning in a bottle last season when he brought up Blum and Geoffrion. Now he’s looking for lightning to strike twice and it isn’t happening.

Trotz say that sending Blake down was a

“career move.” Anyone have a problem with that? Is his development taking a wrong turn?

Yeah, Trotz career….LOL

Since we are giving up goals at an alarming rate, i’d suggest placing all the dmen on IR and calling up only forwards.

Well, most of the goals from the other night WERE caused by forwards screwing up.

Right, the forwards need to be more defensively responsible. Like Ward and Goc were. The kids aren’t good at it yet, unless they are that type. Trotz is probably going to rotate forwards up until he finds one that plays his kind of hockey.

I kind of checked out for the holidays…and I am heading to Port Severn, ON for the first week of 2012…so… You guys all make sure Ellis keeps it up for me. I really want to see him make it on our 3rd pairing as a true offensive defensemen. He is going to be money on the PP.

Looks peaceful. But it’ll be cold. Maybe get some lake ice hockey in?

Catch a few Barrie Colts games

They got some top prospects but they’ll be playing for Team Canada in the world juniors.
But it’s always fun to watch some OHL hockey!

Our Finnish draft pick from this past summers draft, Salomaki (sp) scored a goal to give Finland a 1-0 lead on USA (bastard!).

Finland plays like Trotz is their coach……kinda spooky actually.

Defense keeps you in games........offense wins them!
