In what is likely a sign that Marcel Goc will be ready for Tuesday's game vs. San Jose, the Nashville Predators have sent winger Matt Halischuk back to Milwaukee. Here's the team's press release:
Nashville Predators President of Hockey Operations/General Manager David Poile announced today that the club has reassigned forward Matt Halischuk (mat HUH-lihs-chuhk) to Milwaukee (AHL).
Halischuk, 22 (6/1/88), has played 11 games for Nashville this season - all since making his club debut on Jan. 16 at Chicago - posting three points (1g-2a) and a +1 rating while averaging 9:46 per game. The Toronto, Ont., native, acquired from New Jersey in the offseason, returns to Admirals where he has 17 points (9g-8a) in 31 games.
As part of the discussion of the situation at forward a few days ago, this move should allow Nick Spaling to go back on a line with Joel Ward and Jerred Smithson. Halischuk's acquitted himself well in a limited role, however, a job that previously would have gone to Andreas Thuresson. Marek Svatos returned to the ice yesterday, but I'd expect he'll need a few more days of work before he'd be considered game-ready.
