Injuries could test Preds' depth again - Friday's notes
After the jubilation from last night's impressive 3-1 win over the Vancouver Canucks has died down, attention turns to the injury front this morning for Predators fans. With Marcel Goc's left arm in a sling and Steve Sullivan at Vanderbilt getting checked out after taking a puck to the face, we could see the Preds tap into their depth in Milwaukee once again. If Goc can't play Saturday, does Chris Mueller get called back up? If Sully can't go, will Matt Halischuk get recalled? And what about Blake Geoffrion, who has been tearing up the AHL of late? Has he earned the opportunity to make his NHL debut?
Of course, one also has to wonder how these injuries might impact the team's approach to the trade market. Preds assistant general manager Paul Fenton joined the Thom Abraham Show yesterday afternoon to talk about their overall view of things as we are now 10 days away from the NHL Trade Deadline:

That picture is embarrassing.
Hockey-related, I don’t think Halischuk will get called up, I’d prefer to see Svatos slotted into Sullivan’s ‘scoring’ role to see what he can do with more ice time.
And as much as Geoffrion has been playing well, and would be a nice story, I don’t think he’s ready. Its Mueller Time.

I do agree that Mueller needs to be the one who should be called up. Svatos will have had several more days to get back to game speed by Saturday’s game. He’ll fill in for Sullivan if he can’t make it, and let CM fill in, even moreso than Blake. I wouldn’t be sad to have him spend the entire season in Milwaukee and let him get his professional hockey legs underneath him.
Is it embarrassing because I’m in the photo? I was thinking very few posters get their pic on the OTF homepage. I’m the one in the yellow hat, not the sign-holder, but still…
Haha, no, that’s not the reason. But hey, cool – nice hat.

Embarrassing?
It’s all in good fun… “just chill”.

c'mon
Its just a little foolish (and makes fans who are already considered ‘subpar’ even moreso) to think that Underwood had anything to do with the trade. It was a hockey deal, nothing more.
Plus, Taylor Swift should totally marry Crosby, not Ovi.

and I should point out
I obviously do not agree with the sentiment on the fans, just saying that its been a general perspective from the outside for a long time, no matter how false.

To say that the Fisher deal had nothing to do with Underwood is a little naive. Nashville was number one on Fisher’s list because his wife lived here. He had been here before and liked it. It is pretty obvious that Underwood had some impact on his desire to come to Nashville. It is a measure of honor that his former GM was willing to try and get a beneficial deal with Nashville for him.
Sub-par? Please, I’m Eagle all the way.

hell must have frozen over cause I agree with Chris on something!! Good points. Plus let Geoffrion stay in the AHL. Might mess with his confidence if he gets called up to the NHL and gets his butt kicked. Let him keep building that confidence

Come on over to Bridgestone Arena, Chris
We fans do all sorts of “embarrassing” things. For instance we hear the name of the saintly Henrik Sedin and we shout “Sucks!” We see respected officials commit errors of judgment to the Canucks’ advantage and we utter barnyard epithets. Oh yeah, and one guy inks “This Space 4 Rent” on his bare belly. We also have a lot of fun. You will too.

Haha. Yeah, yeah, I know. I love all the traditions and on nights that I’m able to have a ticket can be found participating in full throat. I just don’t like the “Mr. Underwood” sentiment.

I have a fellow employee who works out of Toronto that I correspond with regularly regarding hockey. He congratulated me on “Mr. Underwood’s” goal last night. Good natured, but I understand that it gets tiresome. All the good work that this site and all the other bloggers do to legitimize Nashville as a hockey market gets undone by the numbskulls at the Tennessean.
Injury Report
Even though Trotz always looks like he would drown your puppy for looking at him funny, his injury reports would lead you to believe the world is all sunshine and roses. Between that and the cloak and dagger NHL injury policy we need a "Trotz – to – Reality" translator for injury reports. Something like:
"we’ll decide after the pre-game skate" = "if he ever stops bleeding and sobbing, he’s playing"
"probable" = "duct tape and staples holding so far"
"doubtful" = "haven’t found the missing limb yet"
"a little dinged up" = "took a puck to the Grebeshkovs"
"might miss a few games" = "inconclusive results from the coroner"

yellow
while i actually liked the mustard thirds, i really hope the preds don’t go with a yellow away jersey. at least not the bright yellow they show above. i’m more inclined to feel like some of the commenter’s in that link. the preds have a yellow practice jersey, so that makes sense. AND there are plenty of other teams that sell shirts in a 3rd color that have never gone with that for a jersey.
but i guess it’s good that the preds are getting some press…..
TN Sports fan in Hoosier Country....
I hate the mustard. I especially hate when the fans wore them when we would play Boston. Duh! Yellow?!?!?!?
I’ve had a yellow preds shirt similar to the one above for a few years. I think it looks good. A full jersey would have to be done carefully so it wasn’t too much….
WHO YOU CALLIN’ YELLER?!?!?!?!?

Not an away Jersey
They Gold jersey is being considered for the home jersey. The road jerseys are still white.
I sincerely doubt the jerseys will be yellow/gold. They just painted all the yellow out of the arena! It’s going to be white/blue/black/silver.
oh please no
not the generic (insert team logo here) 3rd jersey. ANYTHING but that. as much as the mustard makes me want to vomit, i would greatly prefer that over the generic one.
idk
even the color is too much like the penguins and panthers for me. Frankly I like the jerseys the way they are. They are original and unique, and need to stay that way.
Maybe you missed the memo...
Arnott doesn’t play here anymore.

Hear me out
Assuming Sully and Goc can’t go Saturday and possibly Tuesday I say call up Halischuk only. My main reasons being saves money on a daily basis and allows another youngster to continue to play.
I would roll these lines to start the game
10/11/74
71/12/27
13/25/24
40/33/29
Yes I know I put Wilson at center for the first time in his career in a playoff push, but Ward is responsible defensively and Svatos can be.
2nd, We all know that Trotz does not roll even minutes to 4 lines this time of year (if ever). Typically Trotz cuts the rotation to 9, 10, or 11 forwards after the 2nd intermission, so by the 3rd period Ward replaces Halischuk and Wilson or Svatos replace JP or rotate with JP.
Personally I don’t see what it would hurt at least for Saturday. Regardless of what happens mark my words the Saturday TOI sheet will have at least 2 players under 9 min possibly 3, so why not leave Mueller and Geoff in Milwaukee? Especially when Willy was already reporting after last night that Saturday was extremely close to a sell-out. Bring Geoff up after the deadline maybe announce it after the March 12 game so ticket sales can spike Sunday and Monday before the Kings game on the 15th.
Maybe J.P. will actually shoot the puck because, with 27 and 12 at the net, he won’t have any forwards to pass to.
I know it’s grammatically incorrect but for the life of me I cannot think of the correct wording.
The truth is neither libelous nor slanderous.
Reason and logic instead of hope and faith.
