OtF Viewing Party at VILLAGE PUB in East Nasty, Feb 10th (snowed out)
As you all who have been following this site have noticed during the road trip, our beloved OnTheForecheck.com has seen a major spike in activity in game threads, and more interaction as the season has gone on. What better time to capitalize on this hullabaloo than have ourselves a viewing party. Right? Right.
As the Nashville Bars Examiner (plug), I would advise a place that:
- Serves draft beers. Several of them, in fact. Especially Yazoo.
- It needs to be kid-friendly. We don't need to be having this at Anthony's Showplace. Sorry, Seth.
- Nice location, central perhaps. Some of us live in the woods to the west, or in Rutherford.
- Possible group seating area. While we're not expecting to take over a whole sports bar, we would like to get some space so we can be all social and stuff.
- Most important to some of us, it HAS to be hockey friendly. While yes, Alabama college basketball is a big deal and all, but it bows to hockey for supremacy. Bonus points if it's a Preds friendly place.
Village Pub owner Jesse was awesome. Happy hour runs 4 to 7, and expect a “loud, vocal crowd”. He advised to be there before 6.
Village Pub is off McGavock by Riverside Dr.

Also, for the Columbus game I will be heading west to good ol' Dickson on the 22nd. Feel free to join me at O'Charleys.
Feel free to unrec this, as we now have a new thread with up to date comments. That new thread.

Count me in
I haven’t been to Blackstone yet, that sounds good!
On the Forecheck is SB Nation's blog covering the Preds. I can save you a few $$$ on Nashville Predators tickets, or just catch me on Twitter and Facebook.
I think so

Wouldn't be able to come, since I'm in school at Alabama, but it's a great idea!
Having said that….. don’t hate on ‘Bama basketball! We’re 1st in the SEC!
Village Pub
The village pub in east nashville is a great place to watch the games. It’s not a huge place but they always show the Preds game with sound on their big screen tv and have several other TVs with the game as well. They also have Yazoo specials during games. They are Preds fans above all else.
Preds-friendly place, you say? Sounds good to me, compadre.

This may be a winner.
when we find out the number of possible attendees, I’ll give ’em a call.

East Nashville’s tough for me as I live halfway to Jackson. Of course, don’t let that impact a potential decision, just sayin’.

West End works better for me logistically.

Same here, for sure.
Even Bellevue :p

I’m def down for meeting up in Dickson sometime for a road game. They do have an O’Charleys.

that'd be fantastic for me, of course
Only 45 min. from Dickson.

How far are you from Bellevue?

Roughly 70 minutes, give or take traffic/driving speed.

I haven’t been to Blackstone in awhile, but don’t they only have TVs at the bar and isn’t the bar area pretty small?
We definitely want someplace you can actually see the game...

didn’t know that, they do have a screen they’ll drop down but I doubt they’ll do that for a group that’s not 30 people.

wish I could be there
but am not coming into town until the week after…hope to meet some of you at the game on the 15th against the Sharks.
But congrats, your 10th highest scorer has 1 more point than our 10th highest scorer. -Beantown Canuck
I've got class Wednesday nights, so I won't be able to attend
If an of the OTF crew wants to grab dinner or hang out before the Oilers game Monday, I’m going to be in Nashville around 4:45-5:00. So, I’ll have some serious time to kill. I’ll be in the game thread tonight, so hit me up.
i hear ya link
If it is done on a Wednesday I doubt I’ll be able to go. I usually fly on Wednesday night and Thursday mornings. So if I go out drinking that means giving up 2 flights.
Why couldn’t we try for a Friday or Saturday night game?
by flyalder on Feb 3, 2011 4:22 PM EST via mobile up reply actions
I cannot do a weekday game
I work every Tuesday Wednesday and Thursday nights. I would really really really like to attend a meet-up, so perhaps this won’t be the only time this meetup happens.
If we get a decent turnout, we’ll do another for the Stars game. It’s on a saturday.

I’ve never been but how do those Chill Out parties work at O’Charley’s? They typically have TVs and draft beer.
"[Weber] shoots like MacInnis, hits like Stevens." - Jeff Marek
What about flying saucer? Plenty of drafts, big projection screen, and don’t they usually run specials during preds games?
only problem with the saucer is kid-friendly was mentioned. since they allow smoking in parts, i believe that makes it 21 and up?
Great idea!
I’m in. Wednesday is good for me. Village Pub sounds good; I’ve never been.
"Get to the Choppa!"
Village Tavern
Village Tavern is pretty good. They are Preds fans, have a nice selection of beer and offer Yazoo specials during the games. They have the NHL center ice package. Food selection is pretty reasonable, no smoking inside, nice staff…..we go there on the weekends sometimes, never been dissapointed.
Well lets take a vote to see where this thing's gonna take place!
Because as of now we have like 4 or 5 different locations. I’m fine with whatever. Should we take a vote?
Indeed.
Could one of the OtF guys add a poll with Blackstone, Village Pub, Johnathans of Cool Springs (darkhorse eh?), some O’Charley’s, and Village Tavern (if its not the same things as Village Pub)?
Keep in mind also, If this is fun this won’t be the last one.

I did all but “some O’Charleys”, we need a definitive set of options. I say we make our call tomorrow night so we can post something on Monday saying “this is where it will be”.

Wherever wins, I’m calling to let them know in advance so we can get an area. If they balk, second option.
Thanks for making this happen!

I voted
for Blackstone but Jonathan’s in Cool Springs is equally okay with me
"[Weber] shoots like MacInnis, hits like Stevens." - Jeff Marek
They have a private room they love giving out to groups. Good pizza, and lots of beer. Since most folks are either in Davidson or south of, I figured I’d throw that in.

I’d recommend closing this up by Monday night. I will be calling for reservations Tuesday. Should Blackstone balk, I’ll go with option #2.

Grr, gonna have to bow out
I’d love to do this, but I got diagnosed with Influenza A (H1N1) this afternoon. Probably not a good idea to rub shoulders in public places this week.

Hope you feel better soon!
We all had H1N1 at my house about a year ago, and we bounced back way faster than with the regular flu.
Shame. Don’t wanna take the monkey to the airport though. (Your Daily “Outbreak” reference)

I can't make it
so there should be “meet-up thread” so people can comment on the proceedings and I’ll read along. haha.
BY A COOL TWIST OF FATE
I’ll be available to attend! As long as my wife approves of me going to a bar when we’re tight on cash, haha. I should be able to attend!
Okay what's the head count?
Preds4ever, BradPerala, LuvthePreds, ExcellenceThroughGuesswork, DonBorvio, ChrisBurton, SD911, sefskills, Oh my Goc!, Hockey Hillbilly, Brady Purnell, PredHead, 29th Ward and guests… anyone I’ve missed?
Not sure if I can come yet, but am gonna try.
"[Weber] shoots like MacInnis, hits like Stevens." - Jeff Marek
I've been following this thread because I'd love to come...
…but I didn’t post that I was coming. I’m hoping we do this again for a weekend game.
Actual conversation with Blackstone.
“Looking to bring about 20 to 30 people out to watch the hockey game. What kind of seating do you have for groups?”
“none, you’d have to sit at the bar because that’s where the only TV’s are”
“don’t you all have a projector screen y’all used last year?”
“that’s only for special hockey viewing parties”
“so if we wanted to arrange one later this year of around 30 people or so, would that be an option?”
“No.”
“OK then, all I need to know click”
Johnathan’s already has the game room taken. Rats.

Wow, that's a shame about Blackstone
It sounds like they’re more about hosting radio shows that just happen to be Preds-related, than actually catering to Preds fans.
On the Forecheck is SB Nation's blog covering the Preds. I can save you a few $$$ on Nashville Predators tickets, or just catch me on Twitter and Facebook.
I’m bummed out. Blackstone isn’t formal dining. It’s below J Alexanders. They just happen to brew beer. Their food doesn’t suck at all, it’s pretty damn good and the beer is awesome. But message sent. If they want to leave money on the table to protect a pretentious image, wish them good luck. I’ll be content with Shiner Bock just fine.

any Yazoo is better than their in-house, IMO
been there twice before. Disappointed once and pleased once. I won’t bother going there anymore.
That wasn't verbatim, right?
I mean the conversation couldn’t have really gone that way exactly. Surely he or she wasn’t so blunt, right? If so they get the mean face. I’m fine with village pub.
Pretty close
if she had a decent tone about it, I wouldn’t have posted it here. I don’t like to badmouth a place, especially when we’d be doing them a favor on a slow night.

I’ve added a Facebook Event for this party over at the OTF FB page (probably shoulda done this a day or two ago).
Have fun tonight, gang – I’m so bummed I can’t make it!

I’ll see about making it tonight, but it’s not looking likely. I’ve been out the last three nights, and have to take care of some stuff at home.
I’m still gonna give it a try, but I’m driving a RWD pick-up (which is of course the worst thing to drive in snow). I’ll give myself a muligan, but if I 360 twice I’m heading home.

Paul Nicholson from @Predfans said on Twitter he was going to try and make it.

I CAN'T EITHER IT TOOK ME AND HOUR AND A HALF TO GET HOME!

Stupid snow.
I’m going to try getting out of my driveway and onto the road in an hour.

Can't make it
My buddy and I were heading that way, but turned around once we saw traffic gridlocked on Old Hickory. Let’s try it again soon
Should we try again later in the month...?
How about the early Saturday game vs the Stars on the 26th? Game starts at 1pm. I can do that because work isn’t until 7:30pm for me.
Absolutely that would be a good one! I'd suggest to put up a new fan post seeing as this one is about to get pushed off the front page.
Saturday would be optimal for a lot of people, I think.
Everyone rec' it so it will go to the top as rec'd fanposts.

I vote for the Saturday game on the 26th.
That way a lot of people can come out and we wouldn’t have to wait long. The sooner the better I think.
