Yeah, call the WAHbulance. Weber tried to get something from the refs, took out the player that drilled him into the boards.

This supports my theory that whiny broadcasters breed whiny fans. There was a scrum at the end that of a game that happens often enough you don’t really notice them. But one of the clowns in the booth says something asinine about Toronto having their arms full with this one, like some big travesty in hockey took place.

I’ve always hated their announcers. Some of the whiniest in the biz. Center Ice has done a great job of offering both feeds of each game when available. I haven’t had to listen to those losers in almost 3 years until today, and it royally sucked. FS Tennessee needs to broadcast more games. They need to broadcast all games.

I just wanted to laugh and shout “BE A MAN” to their announcers. It’s sad. This is why
COLUMBUS IS A CITY OF LOSERS
and will be until they man up, quit making excuses, and find a pair.

I wouldn't lump an entire city into a category (not even Detroit!)

Some of the commenters who are CBJ fans disagree with him, too. Hopefully, he’ll wake up tomorrow and realize how silly the story makes him sound, and will not write a similar article until at least 24 hours have passed after any loss.

I'd probably be butthurt too...

…if my team was on a streak of oh-for-sixteen and counting in Nashville.

Head up, stick down.

I'd whine too if I were CBJ...

having lost 16 times in a row to at the Preds’ house. My favorite part of that BJ’s rant was that “anything goes” when a player possesses the puck. That’s just wrong!

That hit happened 5 feet from me, and I thought Weber was gonna kill the guy. I’ve never seen 6 that pissed.

So ridiculous

for him to have asserted that the refs would have allowed Shea to stay on the ice after telling him to leave.

Comedy Gold...

This is just hilarious, just hilarious.

This is pathetic. I expect better from DBJ, its normally a good blog.

they are complaining that shea was allowed to play while "bleeding"?

stupid BJ fans, Weber doesn’t “bleed”.
he was simply leaking liquid FURY!.
Don’t complain when you unleash the BEAST!

So my question is what in the heck was Trotz thinking? It was obvious that things were about to come unglued. Why did Trotz leave Weber and Suter out there for the last 5.5 seconds? He could have easily put SOB and Klein out there with Smithers line. Weber was just looking for someone to hit, and Suter probably is still suffering from the concussion he had to have gotten from Doan. Just stupid IMO. We can afford to lose SOB or Klein. Not Weber or Suter.

BTW it would not surprise me in the least to get home from work tomorrow to find out that Weber and Umberger both got suspended for a game or two. The league refuses to look at controversial hits that involve our players’ health, but this one will be the one that gets reviewed simply because that would make sense for this season.

I can’t stand anything involving the city of Columbus, so yeah you got my vote that they are a bunch of whiners.

by wrandsw on Feb 27, 2011 11:51 PM EST reply actions

Weber and Suter

were out there because shit happens even with 5.5 seconds left. O’Brien and Klein could have coughed up the puck, and then we’re tied going into 4v4 and you know you don’t want that.

by HardCorePredFan316 on Feb 28, 2011 12:36 AM EST up reply actions

I get that

but in essence it was a PP. 6 skaters on 5. He throws SOB and Klein out there every chance he gets to start a PK. You are right I don’t want 4v4 (we are terrible at that). But with 5.5 left the faceoff is the key, you get a clean win and nothing else matters. In truth I got no worries about Weber taking care of himself under normal circumstances, but the man was possessed in that instance (still think we are unlucky enough for him to get suspended). As for Suter, the minute things got testy after the horn he took a stick high around the shoulders. A couple of more inches north and he probably joins Lombardi and Goc for the rest of the season.

From the other side of things, Weber wasn’t playing defense for the last 5.5 either. He took a shot at Vorachek. Didn’t get a full blow on him. Then Tyutin took the wrath of Weber. Haven’t seen it mentioned anywhere but the refs did give him a double minor at the 20:00 mark (2 for cross checking and 2 for roughing). The ref that Weber gave it to after the boarding call could have stuck it to him and tacked on a 10 min misconduct.

LOL

Just watched the Weber “thing” Hornqvist takes those kind of shots every time he is in front of the net. Only he dose not act hurt afterward.

love all the preds fans calling them out for being babies

they’re all a bunch of whiners. i was listening to one of their radio broadcasts once, and one of the callers during the post-game had some comment along the lines of, since winning teams are already winning, they shouldn’t be allowed to make trades to make their teams better. seriously? are these guys a bunch of communists or what?
also, they have dumb fan polls, like recently there was one where if a player was rewarded a penalty shot, should a team have a chance at a 2 minute power play instead. they don’t want a reward that has around a 50% chance of success, they want one where you don’t even get 25% chance of success.
what a bunch of babies!

by NikoliVoltron on Feb 28, 2011 9:07 AM EST reply actions

also, like pete and terry said,

when the refs don’t make those calls, players will begin to police themselves, and that’s exactly what happened.
instead of calling us dirty, they should hold the refs accountable, so shea doesn’t have to smash their baby faces in!
remember: OUR CAPTAIN CAN BEAT UP YOUR CAPTAIN!
