This should be an exciting week around the NHL, as we'll find out which two teams will battle for the Stanley Cup, and (according to Stephen Brunt, anyway), the league will announce a Thrashers move to Winnipeg tomorrow. In the meantime, we've got plenty to ponder here in Nashville, like why a senior columnist at the local paper is trying to spin a tale of terror...

David Climer: Nashville Predators must pay Shea Weber soon - The Tennessean
Climer writes a bit of a scare piece here, but it's remarkably uninformed. When he writes, "So what are you waiting on? " and wonders why a deal hasn't been made yet, he's ignoring the multiple times David Poile has mentioned publicly that Shea's agent wants to see how some other comparable situations work out (I'm guessing the Drew Doughty, Steven Stamkos and Zach Parise contracts, as they are also star-quality restricted free agents).

Introducing GAETAN - Japers' Rink
One Caps fan puts together a metric to measure each players Goals For & Against numbers against the nature of their ice time (even strength, power play, penalty kill). The framework is interesting, but I'd like to see a consideration of the team each skater plays for taken into account (individuals are indexed against a league average). Definitely worth your time if you're curious about such things...
