Saturday's notes: Boston battles through to face Vancouver

Once again... they'll wear the Conference Champion hats, they'll celebrate like crazy, but they won't touch the Prince of Wales Trophy? Dumb.

It's a light morning in terms of Nashville Predators news, but the hockey world is still buzzing over last night's thrilling Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Finals, which saw Boston triumph over Tampa Bay.

After the jump, we've got reaction from both sides, word that Preds super-prospect Ryan Ellis is up for more honors, and video of a nasty injury suffered during last night's game...

Bruins edge Lightning 1-0 to punch ticket to Stanley Cup Finals - Stanley Cup of Chowder
It's a wicked-smaht pahty in Boston, as the Bruins return to the Cup Final for the first time since 1990 (when they got smoked 4 games to 1 by the Gretzky-less Oilers). This was simply an incredible game, but I was really impressed with how Boston defended the late lead. Tampa couldn't even get possession in the offensive zone, the Bruins just shut things down at center ice.

Still interest in keeping Thrashers in Atlanta -
So, another group expressed interest in the Thrashers "as recently as earlier this week"? I can't imagine what would happen if someone actually saved the day in Atlanta. There would be riots in Winnipeg, for sure.

Lastly, check out the video from a nasty injury to Steven Stamkos last night - a point shot is deflected off Martin St. Louis' stick, and blasts him right in the face. After a bit of medical attention, he came right back into the game with a full cage for added protection (video found at Kukla's Korner):
