The vast majority of hockey players are great guys away from the rink and it’s great to see Hamhuis maintaining this relationship, but I still have no problem booing them for wearing the wrong sweater. I’d yell “Sucks” during introductions and boo an opposing roster of Gandhi, Buddha, Jesus, Dali Lama and the Tooth Fairy.

I prefer to just cheer my own team on, that way I don’t have to insult a quality person like Hamhuis. That’s just me though. :)

Haha, I agree. Although I do not approve of Hamhuis’ comments following his trade to Vancouver (regardless of his intentions), he is a great, great person and a fantastic role model. I have tremendous respect for how he carries himself on and off the ice. I would never bad-mouth a quality person like him.

On the other hand, I did find myself chanting “Perry is a sissy” at my TV screen. And I am all for getting into a goalie’s head after scoring a goal (and Luongo said he likes it!).

As a mostly retired goalie, those chants hurt, LOL! But that’s good natured taunting. The “you suck” chants I could do without.
