Stanley Cup Final Game 5 Thread & Afternoon Notes
After two games, this series looked like a walk in Stanley Park for Vancouver. Now, the Canucks limp back to home ice looking like they've been mauled by a bear, which is pretty much what happened during Games 3 & 4 in Boston. How will the story turn tonight? That's the big question...
The game starts at 7:00 p.m. Central on NBC, so use this post for in-game discussion, and follow after the jump for an extra helping of hockey news & notes...

Grant Clitsome
Now there’s a name Dick Butkus could envy!
JR’s favorite CBJ, he’ll be pleased.

Are we panicking about Shea's contract already?
I mean it’s okay if we are. I just want to know what I’m supposed to be doing.
Goaleez R weerd.
Don't Panic!
At least that’s what it says in Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy.
Anyways, the word is that Weber’s agent wants to see how some other player contracts work out (my guess is the likes of Doughty, Parise & Stamkos) before finalizing a Weber deal. All indications are that it will get done, though.

Okay, then, GMDP somehow pries Parise—good friend of Ryan Suter—out of Lou’s grip and then signs Webs. I’m good with that.

That would be really funny to me. There’s all these GMs saying “Let’s wait on such and such.” Somehow, in this scenario, TOR ends up paying everyone $10M per.

The Canucks are really getting out of hand with all the diving, it’s disgraceful.

Lapierre with the opening goal here in the 3rd. You hate to see a diver like that get it.
