Get your black tie gear on and prepare for an evening of star-studded extravagance... it's the 2011 NHL Awards! The Nashville Predators are up for an unprecedented four major trophies tonight, so there's a decent shot that the team will have something shiny to put on the mantle.
The Preds are hosting a big get-together at Brewhouse South in Cool Springs, so if you have a chance, I highly recommend heading out there, it was a great place to watch games during the playoffs.

I think 0-4 is the probable outcome tonight. That’s okay though.

Making the show at the HBO winter classic thing? Qualifying his team without Crosby and Malkin in a weak division? Defending Matt Cooke in the media? This is a total disgrace….
Losing Crosby and Malkin and coming within a hair of winning your division is a pretty big deal. I can’t honestly argue that Trotz deserved to win over that.

I just don’t understand these votes. From this side of the ocean (Switzerland where I live), Bylsma has just done his job, nothing more, nothing less. When you are a coach you have to deal with injuries, that’s all. Are we gonna give the Jack Adams to every coach qualifying their teams to the playoffs with an injured team?

That’s pretty much the same argument people make for Barry Trotz, though. Bylsma delivered better results, while losing better players.
I’m a big fan of Trotz, but I just don’t think he was #1 this year.

Trotzy’s team was bottom 3 in average age for the last 3 months though. I mean, he brought half of an AHL team through an extremely tight playoff race.
We likely won’t see eye to eye on this one, I was less than happy with Bylsma this year, especially with the Matt Cooke fiasco’s.

Even on a non-biased level, I don’t see how they could give the Norris Trophy to Lidstrom. Sure Lidstrom is a great player, but he was not the best All Around defenseman this year and isn’t that what the Norris Trophy stands for? I guess not this year.
Bylsma winning Coach of the Year? Seriously? What a joke.
At this rate Pekka just might beat Timmy for the Vezina.
