Tuesday's notes: So long, Sully

With yesterday's news that Steve Sullivan will not return to the Nashville Predators this fall, the remembrances and farewells are coming in from all corners. Over on the OTF Facebook page, in the comments on yesterday's article, and from blogs around this city, fans are recalling one of the most dynamic players in franchise history. It's nice, in a way, that the word got out like this. Instead of reacting to seeing Sully sign somewhere when free agent season opens on Friday, fans can instead take a a couple days to celebrate his time here and wish him well wherever he lands.

Follow after the jump for a couple Sullivan-related articles, and a boatload of other hockey news from around the league...

Well, cross one off the list: Laich signed for 6yr/27mill.

Today is International Caps Lock Day, apparently (one of the two times a year it is celebrated).

International Caps Lock Day is so popular, it is celebrated twice a year. The holiday is also celebrated on the 28th June, coinciding with the day that Billy Mays died in 2009, so that the internet can honor the "Infomercial King" by typing like the very first internet user.

How hysterical would it be if the Preds announced that GOC was re-signed?

Seriously Poile (I expected 2 out of 2)

you don’t drink the kool aid and make fans suffer through 2 more yrs of Sully, but you couldn’t give up a draft pick for Kopecky’s rights? He would have looked awful good in the new jerseys taking Ward’s spot.

Please get Goc re-signed.

Kennedy or Bergfors in a Preds sweater next year? Yes please.

Find a team that needs to get to the cap floor and dump JP on them.

Yeah, I was curious if all this reaching for the floor would help move JP. A lot of the pre-draft trades seem to be inspired by such a desire.

Did I miss something? I wasn’t aware that the hawks are trying to reach the cap floor lol.

The article about the awards is great. Its about time some people rose up and objected to that old man stealing the Norris from Shea.

Have till Thursday to buyout Dumont......

Maybe Poile is till trying to unload JP on someone (provided JP waives his NTC), but I will be quite peeved if we don’t buyout that contract.

I’m actually glad someone took Kopecky off the market, as I don’t think he would have helped here very much. Need higher end skill than what he brings to the table. And it does appear Goc’s market value could be higher than we might think, which could make keeping him here (if we were planning to do so) difficult.

As for Sully, bringing him here was the turning point for this franchise, IMO. First high end scoring talent we had and someone who gave a more legit feel about this team. It was time to part ways with him, but he’ll always be one of the best Preds to play here.
