Return of Russia
just registered for this site, and cant wait to spill all my thoughts on, so heres #1!
We've all known for quite some time that the the KHL...well, frankly it sucks. everything about is awful, if you give me one good thing about it i will send you a check in the mail.....but not really. At the end of the KHL season, the mob that runs that sorry excuse of a league will be almost fresh out of dirty oil money to spend on key players, i.e. Mr. Alexander Radulov, who was probably the best goalscorer the team has every had save Kariya and Forsberg...if you can even count him. Radulov has made it clear to Poile that not only does he want to return to the NHL, he want to return to Nashville, and asked that Mr. Poile not trade his rights away. to me at least, that says a lot about him, and i am more than willing to welcome him back, and of course this guy can put pucks in the net. 26 goals his first season, thats good stuff right there. The chances of his return remain very high at the moment, so i was wondering what the community thinks of the situation? Would you have him back? Thanks!

I personally would welcome him back, not only because he can be the “missing piece of the puzzle” (aka an elite scoring forward), but also because he’ll be coming back to a locker room where nearly all of the players who were around for that, well, betrayal (for lack of a better word) are long gone. Plus, he was still a kid when he made that decision, making it easier to understand his immature action (I’d want to return home and make more money too). So, yeah, I’d welcome him back. However, there are many fans who don’t have the same opinion I do.
Also, rumors of Rads return has been going on for the past few years, yet he still stayed in Russia. However, the comments from Poile (as well as Rads) have made me very optimistic for his return for the 2012-2013 season.

I pretty much agree, but (to the OP) just wait for the “trade Radulov for a bag of pucks” crowd. They are apparently perfect and never did anything rash or stupid in their youths!
Hockeymetricians, they're ever so pious. Are they doing real science or confirming their bias?
I'm wondering why he's not coming back this year?
What guarantee is there that he’ll come back next year? If he does come back, great! To a degree, every player is a mercenary. But will he only come back for one year? On the other hand, if nothing seems for certain, I’d be perfectly happy if they could trade his rights for a player to help us right now.
I wish something I did that was rash or stupid resulted in me making over 3M a year! :D
I want more than a bag of pucks for Rads though……..perfect throw in on a major trade. :)

“Throw in” my arse. Trade him for Parise if you really hate him that much.

Hate? Nah. Dislike? Yup.

I'd take him back.
That’s not even a question. If they didn’t take him back, that’d be a clear message of apex stupidity and I’d bolt for being a Canuck fan.

I think it’s more like a guy that takes a little of your money and gives it to your drunk cousin so he can afford rent.
Little known fact: 1/5 of all Canadians are at least a little drunk at all times, 1/3 of all Vancoverninnians.

That’s a great stat to keep in memory for when Dan and Twitchy come by!

If he did come back
I think he would have to play a remaining year regardless and would be a RFA the year after that, eligible for UFA status in 2013/14. Is that right? I think it is. That kind of sucks if so. Seems like his UFA status should be pushed down the road for each year he was out of the league.
Don’t get me wrong though. I will take him, his baggage, and his rights for 1 year if that’s what we can get.
Radulov coming back next year....
…. would mean free agents of Rinne (UFA), Suter (UFA), Weber (RFA) and Radulov (RFA).
Yikes!
Bring him back!
I’d welcome him back with open arms. The old guard has moved out and it’s a new team since he was here. I’ve been waiting a few years for him to come back and hopefully this will be the last. That’s the ONLY skilled forward we’ve drafted I believe.
