Thursday's notes: On-ice previews & video game reviews
We're loaded up for you this morning - previews for the Preds, bad news on the injury front for one of the game's biggest stars, and an early review of EA Sports NHL 12, after the demo just came out...
Nashville Predators News
Previewing the Predators’ defense for 2011-12, part three… | Section 303
There are plenty of guys with dazzling offensive potential, but Teemu Laakso could play a critical role as the safety net for all those high-wire acts.
Smashville 24/7: 2011-12 Preview: Nick Spaling
Can Nick Spaling add some offensive punch to his checking and PK work from last season?
Ellis Gets Ready - CBC.ca Player
Ryan Ellis was interviewed following a session at the BioSteel Camp, and the last question he's asked here might be one of the dumbest I've ever seen a reporter ask of a young player yet to play his first NHL game (Ellis handles it with aplomb, though). Kudos to Jim Diamond for sharing this on Google+. Oh, and if you're curious about Google+, just click here for an invite.
Hockey Night in Nashville: Season Preview: All-Central Division Team
I'd put Rick Nash ahead of Patrick Kane, but this was a fine idea on Robby's part.

A sponsored post for the Bay City Rollers, perhaps?
Paul McCann - Wednesday Randoms
Paul continues his beef with Phil Williams from Newschannel 5, and looks ahead to this weekend's tailgate party at Bridgestone Arena.

Whoa boy, this ain't good.
EA Sports NHL 12 Is Blowing My Mind Right Now | The Province Blogs
I've fallen out of hockey video gaming in recent years, but the chance to have Gordie Howe on a team? That might draw me back in...
Brophy on hockey: Tough gig - sportsnet.ca
Brad May talks openly about the life of an NHL fighter, and in particular, the dread of knowing that a big matchup is coming up on the schedule.
Which NHLers are training at the BioSteel camp? - The Globe and Mail
Speaking of that camp, it looks like Ellis is the only Pred attending, but James Mirtle shares the whole list.

Whether he bears the "C" or not, Philly is Chris Pronger's team.

The KHL seems to have really developed an affinity for goons.
Corny Tim Thomas tribute? No, it’s actually amazing - Puck Daddy
Greg isn't kidding, this is pretty incredible!

There are some related posts below that which can help as well. There are definitely things about it which I like better than Facebook, but I’m far from an expert.

Chris Brogan has a great blog for all things social media. Swear I’m not on his payroll. If you have time for only one, especially if you blog, this is a good one.

Love this quote from the NHL 12 review...
Another awful team to use? Nashville. To win, you have to play exactly like the real Predators do, which kind of defeats the purpose of playing video games.
I love our reputation as a shut down team. Although it does get somewhat inflated by the Western Conference teams that struggle to beat us *cough*Wings*cough*.
“It’s a trap!”
Actually, I always loved trying to play shutdown hockey in a video game.
