It seems like you are saying that only STH are allowed to complain. I hope that’s not what you are saying. FWIW, most of the people who post here are diehard fans who watch as much as they can, pay for the things they can afford to pay for, and are quite knowledgeable about what’s going on. Many are not even in Nashville.

I would rather see us engage in a discussion about the team than start calling people out for not being STH. We all know the Preds have a budget. That budget doesn’t have to be allocated the same way it always has. And if Poile is not the right fit any longer, then it’s okay to think about whether it would help to find someone else, as long as we are respectful and give actual reasons for what we say. If he is no longer able to negotiate with his players, that’s a real concern, and it doesn’t have to have anything to do with how much money he spends, just on what he spends that money on.

As for your opinion that only STH’s opinions matter…I was unaware that hockey knowledge was directly equivalent to someone’s disposable income.

You are aware that some of the writers on this site are not full STHs, right? Two of them even spend a large portion of the year…GASP…out of state!

I think this oversimplifies things quite a bit. If you have the money to buy season tickets, then do so, by all means. No one here has said anything bad about season ticket holders or their priorities.

But please, don’t expect people to feel less than slighted by the assertion that their opinions are not worth as much as someone else’s because they must put their money towards other things, things that are likely not “Cheeseburgers and movies” but rather necessities..

So cut out the cheesburgers, the movies and buy tickets

i guess i could skip on some student loan payments to save up the money for a ticket package.

but all this discussion on the value of STH versus people with more pressing financial concerns has me wondering who may have more value.
1) a person who spends $2,000 on tickets. or
2) a person that is part of a loyal group of fans who watch or listen to every game, which convinces business’s to spend more on advertisement revenue on the team. (if every fan were STHers this team would have less money since there would be no revenue from media advertisements.)

I’ll drop out of college, move to Nash and buy some season tickets so some people on a message board know I am a STH and my opinion matters. Who needs an education anyways?

I think most everyone knew what you meant, but it’s a past time here at OtF among a few of us to poke at someone who brings up a topic that has “thread memed” before. Pretty sure this one has been covered a few times.

I’m sorry, and I don’t mean to keep this whole thing going now that it’s died down, but I fail to see any connection whatsoever between the purchase of any kind of ticket and the validity of an opinion. As long as reasons are given to support people’s opinion, we should be willing to consider it. We can evaluate those reasons and agree or disagree, but we shouldn’t require proof of payment before listening. If you are saying that there’s a difference between the knowledge level of those who keep up with the team and those who kinda sorta sometimes watch a game every now and then but don’t have that much exposure, then say that. No need to bring $$ into the equation.

If you like DP and BT, then by all means, express that opinion and give reasons for it. [In my best teacher voice:] What have they done that you like? Why are they better than alternatives? Be specific and give examples. [end pedantry] Then sit back and watch the fireworks.
