Monday afternoon notes: George Plaster out at 104.5 The Zone
While the Predators are battling the Panthers down in Florida (at this writing, they're up 3-2 after two periods of Game One), the buzz around Nashville is the major development in the sports radio market, with 104.5 The Zone's George Plaster terminating his contract in reaction to that station's purchase by Cumulus.
Follow after the jump for more on that, and a boatload of other items. We have a Swedish interview with defense prospect Mattias Ekholm, news that next year we should see a doubleheader of our own here in Nashville, and the remarkable story of Mike Danton saving a teammate in Sweden from swallowing his tongue after a late hit sent him into a seizure...

RATS!
Now, how in the world am I gonna get information about the Atlanta Braves that I do not want or do not need!!!!
Also, why would 102.5 hire Plaz?!?
Wasn’t Plaz’s resistance of talking about the predators the reason 102.5 was created in the first place?

Game 1 Scoring
Here’s what I have for the scoring in Game 1. Thanks to OnFrozenPond chat. If someone has more accurate info, please correct me.
C. Wilson 1g 2a
Tootoo 2a
Kostitsyn 3a
Blum 1g 1a
Mueller 1g
Lajunen 1g
Beck 1a
Sloan 1a
K Wilson 1g
Colin WIlson
does anyone know what position Colin Wilson was playing today? the points seem like one of the wilsons was playing center.
Keys to the game: GA<GF
Nope I think those stats are right on, according to the summary. Colin’s two assists were primaries. SK74 had two primary assists also. Summary said the PP was 2-for-2.

This still does not answer the question of Willy on pregame
I would love to see Willy still doing the Pre/post game shows but would that not conflict with the no compete clause (if there was one) in the contract.
Maybe we will get George to take over that role on 102.5 just a thought.
Dear, Lord,
I hope not. How Plaz could be a preds season ticket holder as long has he has, and still no virtually nothing about hockey, is beyond my reasoning.

really??
There might not have been hockey in nashville if it was not for guys like plas. Give it a rest. The fact is ye is a season ticket holder and gas been since day one. Maybe you dint like the fact that he doesn’t talk about the team as much as you would like, but he has always supported this team.

Baloney!
Plaster had nothing to do with Nashville originally getting the team and he jumped on a moving train when he ‘planned’ the Save The Team rally that was already going to take place. What he did was get the word out. Yes, his reach and popularity got the word out better than it otherwise would have, but the people who showed up would have showed up regardless. Those were the core Preds fans, and Plaster or not, they would have been there.
That being said, I think the Preds should hire Plaster and place him in a Public Relations role. It would be a lot more difficult for the local media to criticize the Preds if Plaster is their spokesperson, given his popularity in town. I wouldn’t mind hearing him on the Pre and Post games shows either. Casual sports fans might start tuning in if it’s the only place they can hear him. He’ll have to figure out what icing is though.
????
I never said that he had anything to do with the Preds coming to Nashville. The fact is that he is a season ticket holder and has been for a loooooong time. Plaster did help with the Save the Team rally. To say otherwise is just nonsense. Getting the word out is helping. saying that the only people there were core preds fans, and the he had no impact is, again nonsense.

He did everything he could to support that rally.

Already Going To Milwaukee
I’d love to take the 303 roadtrip to Milwaukee, but I’m already going in November. I’m combining a Badgers game with an Ads game. Should be a great time. If they had posted this trip sooner I might have delayed my trip and gone with them instead. Oh well.
Naturally
Unless you made plans shortly after this came out:
