Tuesday afternoon notes: Scott Hartnell cleared to play after rapid heartbeat
This afternoon's hockey notes kick off with welcome news regarding former Nashville Predators forward Scott Hartnell, who experienced a rapid heartbeat recently and had to get checked out by a cardiologist. After that we have a lot more, however, including news that Columbus may compete against Nashville in more ways than one...

It looks like Columbus and Nashville will become rivals on a number of fronts, as they want to host an NHL All-Star Game, and other such events that the Preds are targeting, too.

I really don’t want to see political correctness crawl it’s way into what players say on the ice to each other. Will we make the offenders stand in a corner with a dunce cap on their heads? Will we implement new penalties for non-compliant speech? I can see it now, “two minutes for being a meanie!”.
My new slogan is “leave my damn game alone”!

It’s all smoke, GB. The media’ll forget all about it in a week or two and we won’t hear about it again for a year or two. Anyway, it ain’t like a few articles are gonna stop guys saying whatever they want on the ice. Maybe they’ll avoid the cameras and microphones a little better, but that’s about it.

Never underestimate the ability of some groups to make a mountain out of any molehill they find that offends their sensibilities. They live for these moments.
So, does Connelly make the Bolts roster? That pick could pay off bigtime for Yzerman if the kid is over his injury issues.

It’s a mountain that will disappear fairly soon, though, and without leaving any lasting changes behind. You just can’t regulate that sort of thing.
Connolly’s a weird situation. I expected him to be sent down the other day and Cory Conacher to be kept up for a little longer, but it went the other way Most likely because of Connolly’s age. He’s not old enough for the AHL yet. The speculation right now is that he might get a few games and then be sent back to juniors. I can’t really see them keeping him on this season unless more than one of Jones/Ritola/Tyrell/Pyatt fall off this week. But we’ll see what he can do these next 2 preseason games.

Are you a Devil Rays fan too? Next two games monumental for them. Did the Red Sox choke, or what? :o

Sorry, baseball is not my sport. Waaaay too slow. The best thing to me about baseball is that at least it’s not cricket. (3 days?! Really?!)

Maybe it’s me getting older, but baseball has jumped into my #2 spot behind hockey the past few years. The NFL is an over commercialized borefest for me anymore. Considering that both my National and American league teams are doing great (Phillies & Rangers), these are fun times for baseball. :)

Yeah, I fell asleep before halftime last night. And I was raised to hate the Redskins and love the Cowboys. My mother is probably ashamed of me right now. Although, in my defense, the Tale of Romo’s Rib really doesn’t need three hours to tell.
