Cal O`Reilly celebrated his 25th birthday with a goal in regulation, and the winning score in the shootout as the Nashville Predators ran their preseason record to 6-1-0 with a 3-2 win at Winnipeg. Anders Lindback triumphed in his first-ever NHL shootout action, and David Legwand added another goal on the power play, bringing the Nashville PP up to a 7-for-30 conversion pace. a 23% rate that would have Preds fans ecstatic if they could carry something like this forward into the regular season.
Jordin Tootoo assisted on O'Reilly's initial goal, and Mattias Ekholm fired a shot from the point which created the rebound opportunity for Legwand's goal.
The Preds return to Nashville tonight for their preseason finale against the Carolina Hurricanes tomorrow at 7:00 p.m.
