A lot of easy cheap shots here...

But all Hillen has done is come in as the only undrafted (by the Preds or anyone) free agent defenseman and beat out a bunch of high profile draft picks the likes of which include Ekholm, Laakso, Blum and previously Ellis (yet to be determined if he becomes part of the line up). Trotz gave Hillen big props last week in an article in Nashville’s The City Paper. He has been a great $650k signing and has put up some pretty good stats considering his limited role. He is an important depth defenseman whom I doubt will be headed to Milwaukee. I know this is all in good fun, but he has earned a modicum of respect IMO.

Tough call with Hillen. He hasn’t been bad but I can’t blame the organization for playing the home grown talent.

I think they need him around in a depth role when a) Josi begins to show his age and inexperience at the NHL level; b) Ellis begins to show his age and inexperience at the NHL level;c) Oneof the other D gets hurt (only a matter of time) and d: Depth for the playoffs as you can’t rely on rookies in the playoffs.
