Jerred Smithson on Injured Reserve, Nashville Predators recall Chris Mueller
This just came over the wire from the Preds:
Nashville Predators President of Hockey Operations/General Manager David Poile announced today that the club has recalled forward Chris Mueller (KRIHS MEW-luhr) from Milwaukee (AHL) and placed forward Jerred Smithson on injured reserve retroactive to Jan. 7.
Mueller, 25 (3/6/86), leads the Admirals in points (15g-11a-26pts) and goals through 33 games in 2011-12. This is the West Seneca, N.Y., native's second recall to Nashville this season - he played a pair of NHL games Dec. 3 (against his hometown Buffalo Sabres) and 6 (vs. Phoenix). A season ago, the 5-11, 203-pound forward appeared in his first 15 NHL contests, registering three assists. Signed as a free agent on Dec. 27, 2010, Mueller posted 104 points (42g-62a) in 166 games (missing just four contests total) with Michigan State University from 2004-08, and helped the Spartans win the 2007 NCAA National Championship, ranking fifth in points (3g-2a) during the NCAA Tournament.
By making the IR transaction retroactive to January 7, Smithson could theoretically play Monday against the Islanders if he's ready, but since he hasn't been skating lately that isn't likely.
Kevin Wilson, the Preds' hockey communications manager, tweeted that Mueller has been recalled because Craig Smith is "under the weather".

While this is bad news, the good news is that yet again one of our rivals for a playoff spot loses one to a lesser team. Stars drop one 2-1 to the Avs in Dallas. Stars can’t beat bad teams.

Well, the Stars did beat the Bruins. :D
Dallas got 1 SOG in the first period and only 9 thru 2 periods at home against the Avs. Must’ve been some party they went to last night! :D

They’ll both finish ahead of us anyway, it’s the one’s behind us losing that helps the cause the most, IMHO.

it is true but it doesn't help us when the teams above us all get points as well
Overtime between two teams over us doesn’t help the cause
