The pessimistic view on Ryan Suter
With the trade deadline approaching soon the time to handle Ryan Suter's contract is as well. I was wondering what anyone thought as to his trade value and what teams would legitimately be interested. I as much as any preds fan want Suter to stay in the gold and blue for years to come, but i am getting nervous that a deal won't be worked out. If it doesn't, i don't want the preds to be left with nothing if he goes to free agency in the Spring. Any thoughts on trade possibilities?

We are not gonna sign him
But we can probably get one of Philly’s young studs for him.
I would take that, and to Hell with Suter if he doesn’t sign.

if we continue the trend of winning we can sign him
i don’t think it’s the money it’s the idea of getting a stanley cup. If he doesn’t think we can win the cup i doubt he’ll sign with us

You give Suter too much credit.
It’s the money and the fame that he’s after, not the Cup. Same thing with Weber.

I wish you we're wrong, but...
unfortunately I think you are right.
I may be a little bias, but I believe Suter is worth a Steven Stamkos.

Money and fame?
I have it on excellent authority, from my dad who is a friend of one of the top percentage owners (can’t mention names b/c it was confidentially told to him [at least he doesn’t read this site lol]), that the management is serious about spending to the cap so the money is there. The ownership is really pushing Poile to make some serious moves to improve the teams offense. Its all about money and with big names and at least a division title will be worth every penny they spend on talent. Think TV rights and increased ticket revenue via price-raising and increased season ticket sales. The short-term goal of the ownership is to get a division banner to hang in Bridgestone and at least get to the semifinals.
Fame? winning the cup will bring a crap-load of fame! Look how Nashville fans idolize big names on their sports teams (titans).
The best barometer of his intentions is, if he has a house here, whether or not his home is on the real-estate market.
Hoping so
i agree i just hope he enjoys the run we r on right now and maybe he will consider staying.
Super optimistic, no way this is gonna happen but who cares...
Saw on twitter where Fenton was at the Pens-Canes game tonight,
Suter for Geno.

Lots of Canes will likley be getting dealt before the deadline, probably why Fenton was there. Probably scouting a Dman. :/

Not Eric Staal? His stock is pretty low ATM.

betting
on Poile keeping Suter and going after rentals for a cup run…..Suters value is more on the ice right now and we could still get decent value for negotiating rights at the draft if we package him to a team that truly has the status to sign him (Detroit/Philly).
NOT Detroit or Chicago!
I don’t mind him going to an eastern team… heck even a western team but NOT a central team. I think Suter still offers us a better chance to win. Look at Shae’s plus/minus rating without Suter. Heck look at last night’s game compared to when Web’s missed.
