I have a little more hope for Suter now
But if he does decide to sign, I’m thinking short term deal. I’m thinking Weber goes for arbitration if that’s the case, but if not, both of them are out the door IMO.

he either signs with us, we continue his present contract for one more year, or we choose to match or not match any offer sheets July 1st. Arbitration is not an option…

the media guy took “I’m not resigning before the trade deadline” as “I’m testing the market july 1st.” seems like alot of media guys are jumping the gun with this.
If all you listened to was Twitter, you would have thought he basically said “Eff Nashville, I’m up for sale!”

It was like a game of telephone from when you’re a kid. the quote was “I’m not signing before the deadline” and then the analysis began and warped it out of recognition.
I don’t know what specific media reports Suter was reacting to.

hmmm rookie question...
looking over the events tonight i only see HB doing puck control in the skill challenge… wth? is there something else he is doing that i am missing?
I think each rookie is only allowed to compete in one event? (Is that right, everyone else?)

I think they can be in more than one, but at least one from each team has to be a rookie. Both Colin Greening and Carl Hagelin are in 2 events.

The End of Year Team
So the All-Star game happens in the middle of the seaon, right? When the season over and the media/coaches/GMs vote on awards, they also vote for an All-NHL 1st and 2nd Team.

Was part of the problem with that weird ad thing that Weber’s agency made for him last summer. They referred to him as something like a 3 time NHL All-Star when at the time, he had only been selected to play in however many All-Star games and had never been selected for an post-season team.

I watched that the other night!
I was really disappointed they didn’t use Weber or Chara. Nothing against the Stars, but if you’re gonna talk about slap shots, shouldn’t you use one of the big two? They also didn’t even HAVE any shots of Weber or Chara taking a slap-shot, if I remember correctly.

Yeah, they basically told us that the player shifts his weight and flexes the the stick using the ice and then hits the puck. It would’ve been far more interesting to look at musculature, stick lengths, and stuff like that…. or not used like grade school science terms.
You know what I'd like to see?
I would bet my bottom dollar that when they talk about a “heavy shot”, that probably has to do with a puck that has more spin on it, giving it rotational inertia. I haven’t seen that broken down anywhere, though.

it’s when the machine fails to record a speed that you get another shot. In past years, that often happened if you got any height at all on it, but they seem to have a better gun this year.
Just watched it again.
