Out-of-towner seeks advice
I'm taking in the Preds v. Blues game Saturday with my buddy (45) and my two sons (16 & 9) and I need to know a good place downtown to grab some good pub grub and a quality beer or two AND is also ok for the kids. I'm cool with a "Hooters" type atmosphere, but I'd like something more original. I see there's a Dick's Last Resort, but that place gives me the creeps too. When I used to go see the Thrasher we would go to ESPN Zone, so something like that is cool. Also, any suggestions on parking would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like Big River Brewery would be the perfect place for you. Great pub food and excellent beer. It is on the corner of 2nd and Broadway, 3 blocks from the arena, which is at 5th and Broadway. Your kids will be more than welcome at Big River. I would suggest getting there no later than 5:15. As for parking, check out this link:

Enjoy Nashville. I have been to a game in St. Louis before and I can at least promise it won’t be 5 degrees here like it was the night I was in St. Louis!
Thanks West
But I’m heading north, not coming from St. Louis. Big River in Chattanooga has the best Shrimp & Grits I’ve ever had—I hope this one is good too.
There was a big discussion on this topic a few weeks ago

In terms of parking:
As sketchy as this sounds, my family and I always park a few blocks away from Broadway (where 99% of all the restaurants you’re going to be direct to are located) in front of a local stripclub. For the record, it’s a very unassuming building and parking lot. The guy who watches the lot is very nice, and because it’s a club, they have surveillance and people walking around and everything. It’s also only $5, which is about as cheap as you can get. There are also similar parking spots for the same price just across the street, if you’d rather not park in front of a stripclub, haha. Here’s the address (if you want to pop it in a GPS or something): 500 5th Avenue South, Nashville, TN 37203. Once you park, all you have to do is walk about 3-4 blocks down 5th avenue to Broadway; the Bridge will be on your left, and is impossible to miss.
Hope that helps!

Is this the Sun Trust building parking?
That’s where I always park…$12.00 and pretty secure, short walk to the stadium and easy access to get out of the city via Church St. But if you park there you can’t linger around the stadium past an hour post game. They close the 5th ave entrance and you have to enter a block over on 4th. Can be pretty disorienting for a first timer.

Oh. I dunno… if you’re standing on 5th avenue (say, at The Palm), and walk away from Broadway, and it’ll be about 3 blocks up on your left. I’ve never stayed that last after the game, so I have no idea about closing the entrances and stuff and if that relates to this. It might.

Not sure if it's still available...
But the last few games I went to, I parked at the Titans stadium. There’s a pedestrian bridge across the river, and several resteraunts on the other side. Not a bad walk, and it’s free. I think there is a bus that charges a couple bucks to drive you over there if you prefer that as well.
TN Sports fan in Hoosier Country....
It's about five blocks away from the Demonbreun entrance to Bridgestone but...
I park at Cokesbury ($5) here’s the address..301 8th Ave S, #S, Nashville, TN
As far as eats, Rippy’s ain’t bad and if you have time I highly suggest Drifter’s BBQ although it’s in East Nashville…here’s the address…1008 B Woodland St, Nashville, TN 37206
The Preds seem to do well after I eat there…be careful you can eat yourself sick there..done it many a time :)
