Time to Trade Right to Radulov
The timing couldn't be better to package the rights to Alexander Radulov in a trade for a top forward. Its been over 3 years now that he bolted for the KHL and I believe he has one year left on his KHL contract. Reports show he has interest in returning to the NHL, but with the impending CBA set to expire and him coming of age to be a free agent Radulov is looking for loopholes in the system to keep from having to honoring his entry level contract. There is no way he will ever play for Nashville without it including a prolonged court battle or a top level 5 to 7 million dollar contract. I say trade his rights now. Toronto or Montreal would have the best chance of luring him back. and they have plenty of dollars and plenty of assets. I presonally would like to see the Preds to get Montreal's 2012 first and second pick for him. But at this point anything would be better than a drawn out wait with nothing in return.

I think you are overly optimistic about his trade value.

Wow, I actually agree with you on something! :o
Doesn’t hurt to call around and see what we might be able to get for him, but Rads word is about worthless at this point, so even if he did tell a team he would come back over here to play, they may not really believe it.

We agree on lots of things, you just like to argue that we don’t.

Hmmm
I wasn’t really around much in the Radulov days, but I always wondered and heard rumors it was some Russian mafia deal, which isn’t necessarily all gangster, but in the same vein as the way Olympic champions from Russia back in the Soviet era were portrayed. The stern Russian coach in the movies. The Dolph Lundgren character from Rocky 4. Look how difficult it was for Sean Connery to come to the US with his awesome submarine. Who knows what it’s like for a hockey player.
Wow. Haha, you know I actually heard the same thing back around the time he left.
I never really planned on saying anything because I figured what do I know, but a tiny part of me haaaas always wondered… I mean, why would a superbly talented young man who is playing in the greatest and most celebrated hockey league in the world and on track to be a superstar who could make millions of dollars voluntarily leave everything he has here to go back to Russia, a country that doesn’t exactly grant him as much freedom or flexibility or potential as the NHL would provide (at least I assume, as gleaned from watching movies with angry Russian mobsters/stern Russian coaches/sketchy Russian politics/etc. etc. etc.)?
BLACKMAIL?? THREATS?? MAFIA??
Who knows if any of it is true or not, but I have to admit, it’s rather fun to speculate about :)

Like I've said previously...
I’d love to do a Radulov documentary! Go to Russia, spy a little like James Bond, have a couple of short romantic flings, find a translator, ask questions, maybe take some shady characters out of the equation…etc. You know, my usual weekend.

Hey, that sounds awesome.
I’m in. I can be the chick who charms sketchy Russians into giving up information before “taking them out of the equation.”

But seriously...
I’d rather sign the dude to a multi-year extention than trade the dude. Even if we could get a 1st and 2nd. But that’s just me. I’d say Montreal would have serious interest in him because of his Quebec Remparts history (which was quite something… remember?). The Canadiens need serious help on the power play as they are dead last.
I believe he is back with the Preds next year.

And let me add a p.s.
If we get that kind of deal (a 1st or 2nd) it would not be for Radulov’s rights it would have to be a trade for Radulov… in a Preds uniform… making his entry level salary… doing incredible things on the ice.

I’ll bet $10,000 that Rads doesn’t come back with us next season! Wait, I don’t have Romney type money, so I’ll bet $10.00! :D
If the Habs continue to falter as they have been, Gionta would be a nice return for some package that includes Rads’ rights.

So would I …. but I cant see him coming back. He couldn’t stand the pressure of Trotz always on his butt when he was here. His fragile ego has been over inflated by the KHL awards and success he has had in their league. So why would he come back to play for a coach he didn’t care for and fan who may boo him off the ice. The Hab fans and management would treat him like a god, and would be willing to pay dearly for their new found hope. I am just saying the timing is right. Montreal needs a PR boost to take the heat off their coach and front office and appease their fans rabid hockey addiction …and we have just the fix they need. Gotta be worth something good.
I CANT STAND
the thought of him. never, and i mean never, do i want to see him wear our colors again. hope he returns and we trade him.

Thanks Don.
Grizzly bitches about us not being able to score goals, and then he wants to get rid of Radulov’s rights? Makes no sense to me.

First off, bears growl, they don't bitch!
Secondly, if by trading the rights to someone who isn’t going to play here anyway can get you someone in return who can help you now, it’s an easy decision to make. This is no time for Santa Claus/Easter Bunny dreams of Rads coming back!

Oh, cause it sounded like you were agreeing that you hope he returns but you never want to see him in a Preds jersey again....
….not that you didn’t think he’s never gonna play in the league again.
Did I miss something?
And I’d liken him to bigfoot, not the Easter Bunny. He will be back…….

Oh, I’d rather not see him back here after what he did, I’m clear on that. But regardless of that, I don’t think he’ll ever play for us again anyway, so getting a good return for him if possible is beneficial to us.

What did he "do" again?
Are you still mad that he gave Isnott a concussion?
Or that he went home to play hockey for 15x as much money as what he was making here?

He broke a contract.
And he did it when we could least afford for something like that to happen. He’ll continue to make 15x as much money in Russia so long as he has to play out the remaining year of his NHL contract is he returned, which is why I doubt he ever comes back anyway.

I wouldn’t mind having him back. If he scores, he scores. I don’t care who scores the goals, as long as they help us win.

would love to have Corey Perry! Although I utterly despise him in a Duck Uni, I believe I, and a majority of our fan base, would grow quite attatched to him when he starts hammering goals at his usual pace.
Yeah, I gotta begrudgingly agree with you here.
