Who is scratched WHEN Preds make a trade?

So here's the question that I pose to you all. When (and I'm saying it's a matter of time, because everything seems to be leaning in the direction of a deal will be made) we make a deal for a "Top 6 Forward", who on our team will be scratched or potentially sent down to the minors?

I think this is a tough call and really one that I don't feel we necessarily need to make (I'm not sold that this team needs a Top 6 Forward but rather some beef in the defense) aside from to appease Suter. Nashville is 11th in offense, 2nd in pp and 9th in defense as of February 1st and as such, I feel pretty good about our team. Nevertheless, a trade seems to be imminent as of now to make that Stanley Cup push and to keep our free agents.

My opinion is that it will be Spaling, Yip, Bourque, Smith, or Halischuk, barring a player is packaged in the trade to another team clearing a spot for the new player. My gut is Bourque (to prevent his rookie status from being waved entirely and keeping an extra year on his contract) but what do I know. That's why I pose the question to you all. If we make a trade, who's scratched?

P.S. Sorry I accidentally deleted this post and had to create it again. The previous votes were for 4 Bourque - 1 Halischuk

Thanks Dirk

For the editing help and for your input. Sorry I deleted the post, accident when I was trying to edit a line. I see your point with Bourque not reaching 40 games this season but I feel that Polie and the organization will continue to try and limit his games played to prevent any earlier free agency.

But what do I know, I’m just a fan from Virginia…

i don't think a move will be necessary

IF/when the preds trade for an upgrade at forward, i believe one of our current top 6 players will be leaving the team. Unless poile pulls of the trade of the year, and manages to keep the current top 6 and add to them, i believe the question is moot.

Bourque or Yip would be the likely candidates to sit, but with injuries always just around the corner, it will likely take care of who sits by itself.

IMO, we would be making a big mistake by standing still during the trade deadline due to currently being in a good position offensively. When you look and see that the Bruins are a good .75 GPG average ahead of us, you know there’s still room to improve offensively.

On a slightly related note, the only thing I have to say is....

that assuming that we make a trade and we have to get rid of someone, it BETTER not be Colin Wilson. Because if it is, I. Will. Be. PISSED. After seeing how much he turned it up this season, there can only be better and better things in store for him over the next few years. Getting rid of him would be terrible.

Anyway, on a related note, I voted for Yip. I think there’s something about Gabby’s firey, GO-GET-THE-PUCK!!! personality that Trotz is gonna want to keep around for the playoffs.

I’d agree with that and doubt Poile would move Wilson anyway. We want to add to what we have, not add and subtract.

Yeah, hopefully Willy will stay right here. For some reason reading this just made me think about that, so I thought I’d mention it.

Willy is going to be RFA, and unless there’s some crazy trade package that somehow occurs – I doubt he’s gone. Why mess with chemistry?

Ah, see I’m very ignorant about all the status stuff with each player… I didn’t realize he was a RFA! That’s good to know. I just knew he was going to be doing some kind of contract stuff.

Check out nhlnumbers.com and click on the Preds logo. Fun site to browse.
I also hope it is not Wilson. Some of those other names aren’t very easy to yell.
