Thursday's notes: This is why we can't have nice things

Last night, Twitter was set aflame by one fan's tale of a night partying with Nashville Predators goalie Anders Lindback, complete with pictures and some colorful anecdotes. While our initial reaction to such things is to chuckle, admire for the 1000th time what awesome guys pro hockey players are, and share this with friends (I know I retweeted it, like so many others), let's try to remember that posting stuff like this online is pretty much the best way to ensure that it never happens again. When these things get out, you can bet that they'll serve as a cautionary tale to teammates to show a little more discretion, and they'll retreat into their shell in the interest of protecting the team.

So hey, by all means sit around and regale your friends with those stories, but just don't share them online where they can spread like wildfire, OK? That "hockey players can go out and have fun like normal folks" attitude is what makes Nashville a special city in the NHL, so let's try to keep it that way.

And now, on to the morning hockey news, which includes another, more hockey-related reference to Mr. Lindback...
