Given his recent scratches from the lineup and the eight defensemen on the roster, Ryan Ellis seemed like a natural candidate for an assignment to Milwaukee, and the Preds pulled the trigger on that this morning. As I've written before, it's not a bad idea anyway, to help keep this from being counted as an Accrued Season (40 games on the Active Roster) towards eventually earning Unrestricted Free Agency. Of course, the whole CBA is subject to change this summer, but for now, them's the rules.

This, from the team:
Nashville Predators President of Hockey Operations/General Manager David Poile announced today that the club has reassigned defenseman Ryan Ellis to Milwaukee (AHL).
Ellis, 21 (1/3/91), has appeared in 22 games for Nashville this season, posting nine points (3g-6a), including two game-winning goals, and a plus-eight rating. He returns to Milwaukee where he started the season, posting 17 points (4g-13a) in 26 games. He was named to the 2012 AHL All-Star Classic, but missed the contest due to his recall.
One thing to remember is that the 23-man roster limit goes away after the Trade Deadline, so that wouldn't prevent a recall for Ellis after he gets in some work with the Admirals.
