Our hockey notes this morning begin with two discussion from hockey stats analysts which put forth the notion that the Nashville Predators' recent personnel moves may have addressed the team's most glaring fundamental issue, a tendency to get out-shot consistently. Having a star goaltender is nice, but relying on him so heavily every night is a dicey proposition come playoff time.

Barry Trotz just a single win away from 500… | Section 303
Jeremy compares how long it has taken other recent expansion teams to reach 500 wins. Even after you consider the impact of ties in the pre-lockout NHL (what used to be a tie now has a 50/50 shot of becoming a win), only Ottawa and Anaheim come close to winning 500 as quickly as the Preds & Barry Trotz have.

Legislation Takes Tax Money Back From Preds - NewsChannel5.com
Phil's latest "investigate report" starts off with a gross mischaracterization: Metro Nashville city officials are taking back millions of tax dollars that had been going to the Nashville Predators. What's described in the article does not involve the city actually "taking back" any money, but rather claiming future funds generated by sales tax at non-hockey events at Bridgestone Arena. The team's not resisting this change, by the way.
