At the end of January, I wrote a FanPost about the many players the Predators lost over the summer because I was interested to see how they were doing. Someone suggested that I do a follow-up article at the end of the season, so with one game left to go for every team, I figured now would be the time!
So, without further ado, I give you Joel Ward, Cal O'Reilly, Marcel Goc, Cody Franson, Matthew Lombardi, Shane O'Brien, and Steve Sullivan.

I think Washington expected something different out of Joel Ward than what they have received, but such is life. He has 11 fewer points than he did last year, but he's also played 8 less games. Ward is still a great guy and a solid player, and he is, I'm sure, bringing a lot of personality, grit, and broken sticks to the Capitals. I miss him, but not in the sense that he's necessary to the Predators... I just miss him as an awesome dude.

Well... yup. No loss here! I had a lot of faith in Cal early in his career, and I really hoped that he was going to become a consistent forward - not necessarily putting up tons of points, but maybe 30-40 a season, once he matured. Clearly that ain't happening, as he's playing for the Baby Penguins now.

I still hold that Marcel looks more and more like Bela Lugosi every year. Panthers fans agree, and call him "Count Gocula," which I think is absolutely hysterical. Marcel is still Marcel. In the last 5 seasons, only once has he played more than 56 games (73 GP in 09-10 with the Predators), but he's consistent in his play when he is on the ice. Still averaging almost exactly the same amount of goals, assists, points (durh), and shots on goal. You don't expect 60 points out of guys like Goc, but you still appreciate what they bring to the table off of the score sheet. If he's doing for Florida what he did for Nashville, they're probably pretty happy with him. I just hope he's healthy for the full season next year. Good luck in the playoffs, buddy!

Well now we know why Fruit Cup looks so glum in his Maple Leafs mugshot headshot... what a season. He has definitely done more with less, however, with just 8 fewer points in 20 fewer games. Pretty impressive, especially on a team like Toronto. Speaking of relatively impressive things, the fact that his +/- is -1 (was 0 before the final game of the season) also surprised me. After the season Toronto has had, I was expecting it to be uglier than that. Nice job, Cody! Good luck next season.

Here were my thoughts (word for word) from the first post:
Kevin Klein has more points than Matthew Lombardi. Aaaaaand SCENE!
Here are my current thoughts:
Kevin Klein STILL has more points than Matthew Lombardi. And the Preds got a draft pick. Game, set, match.

Wow. I have to admit, I'm totally surprised by these numbers. SOB's doing well in Colorado! He has more than twice as many points this season, and more than twice as many shots on goal. Even though his penalty minutes are up (perhaps because Barry isn't breathing down his neck?), it seems like he's helping the Avs out. Yay! A visitor from Mile High Hockey commented that the fans are somewhat polarized on the subject of SOB, but that he definitely has a great locker room presence and brings a fun personality to the team. He seems happy, so that makes me happy. I really missed SOB about halfway through the season, and while I'm still kinda sad about it, most of my misery has dissipated.

DANG, Sully. Dang. I miss Sully as a great person, but I'm glad he's now on a team where he can really produce and be helpful, as he wasn't really able to do that for the Preds during his last year with us. Nothing to say here - the numbers speak for themselves. He's still Sully, and he's still capable of putting up 50 point seasons.
To all ex-Preds in the playoffs this season, best of luck!
