In the wake of Anders Lindback getting knocked out of last night's game at Colorado, the Nashville Predators have officially recalled goaltender Jeremy Smith from Milwaukee, after he participated in practice today:

Nashville Predators President of Hockey Operations/General Manager David Poile announced today that the club has recalled goaltender Jeremy Smith from Milwaukee (AHL) under emergency conditions.

Smith, 22 (4/13/89), is ranked second among American Hockey League goaltenders in wins (29), games played (53) and minutes (3096), in addition to having the league's fifth-best goals-against average (2.25). The Dearborn, Mich., native has stopped 63-of-64 shots and recorded a shutout while starting two games during Milwaukee's four-game winning streak.

The "emergency conditions" means that Smith is here because Lindback isn't healthy. The Preds invoke that clause so that this doesn't count against the 4-callup limit that's in place after the trade deadline (and which so famously bit Edmonton in the butt a short while ago).

Barry Trotz said earlier that he expects Lindback to be ready to back up Pekka Rinne on Wednesday for Game 1 vs. Detroit, so hopefully this is just for precaution/practice purposes. Stay tuned, however.
