Whats the cost for the "Big-2"

Well, now that our season is over in Philadelphia, its obviously time to hear Suter or Weber to the Flyers rumors and there isn't really anything we can do to stop it. The Flyers have a lot of detachable parts and if I were Nashville, I'd want multiple contributors opposed to one guy and picks. After the jump, lets see what the Flyers have to deal...

The piece I think you guys would be most interested in is defender Matt Carle. Carle is a very polarizing player in Philly---he is either loved or hated. There have been some posts on BSH comparing the two here (claiming Carle = Suter) and here (claiming Carle is almost at Suter's level). If Matt Carle were to be paired with Shea Weber it would continue to be a dominant pair. Carle's worked with Pronger when he was healthy, so he knows how to work with a big shooting defender. And the kicker for you guys is that this June 1st he'll become an unrestricted free agent---meaning you could get him at a bargain price. He'll sign for about 4-5 which is a substantial amount below what either Suter or Weber is asking for.

#2 overall pick in the 2007 draft James van Riemsdyk. We were supposed to get Pat Kane---then we lost the lottery and wound up with JVR. Its not that I don't like his game or think he's halted in his development---it's just that the Flyers have gotten more production from players below him on the depth chart (Wayne Simmonds, Jake Voracek, Scott Hartnell) and still have serious young talent coming up (Schenn, Couturier, and Eric Wellwood). JVR took over the 2011 playoffs scoring 7 goals in 11 games. He struggled to stay healthy this year but managed to improve his P/G from .53 last year to .55 this year (45 points over 82 games) and improving his shots per game from 2.3 to 2.8---all pointing to him not having tapped all of his potential. He's a 55-point-player next year given top-6 ES and PP time and that he stays healthy.

First round draft pick roughly 25th overall

Marc-Andre Bourdon is a former 3rd round pick and at age 22 he saw his first NHL ice time this year and impressed, while Erik Gustafsson was an undrafted FA and at 22 got regular time for the Flyers in the playoffs. Nick Cousins was our 3rd round pick last year, playing pretty well averaging about a point-per-game in juniors.

Which deal would you do?
