Missing the rink? Check out the Elite Edge Hockey Showcase

If you're missing some live hockey action, the future of the game will be on display over the next few days at A-Game Sportsplex in Cool Springs.

Headed up by Nashville Predators Manager of Hockey Operations Brandon Walker, the Elite Edge Hockey Showcase provides high-level training & instruction for over 200 teenage players. Not only is this their chance to learn about how to train their bodies and minds for increasingly advanced levels of hockey, but they will also get to show their stuff for a broad assortment of college and junior hockey coaches. That makes this camp an invaluable opportunity for players hoping to earn a college scholarship, get picked up by a junior team, or even perhaps draw the attention of the National Team Development Program, which has helped develop dozens of future NHL players (including Nashville Predators like Colin Wilson & Ryan Suter).

The festivities get underway Sunday through Wednesday. Sunday's on-ice action will run from 1:00-7:00 p.m., while Monday and Tuesday will go from 8:30-11:30 a.m., and 1:00-6:00 p.m. The final games will take place Wednesday morning.

So take a break from stressing out about possible free agents and trade possibilities, and appreciate the hard work of players who are just starting to make their way up through the hockey world.

After all, you never know how high some of these kids might make it - one alumnus of the program is forward Tyler Biggs, who plays for Miami (Ohio) University and was a 1st-round draft pick of the Toronto Maple Leafs last summer (22nd overall).
