Tonight, the Predators ended a rather unique experience during an 82-game regular season. They played 10 games (12% of the entire season) in 10 buildings, in 21 nights. The trip (the one home game was just part of the trip) took them to all 4 time zones, some multiple times. The entire trip was played without the franchise goaltender and with other bumps and bruises. So what happened? Well the trip started great, 5 points in 3 games, ended fantastic, 6 points in 3 games, and was absolutely disgusting in between. So we are now coming home with 11 points in the 10 games. If, before the trip, you would have offered me that, I would have taken it in a minute. We not get to come home, with a lot of home games to make up. Yes, we are not in the top 8, but the top 8 so far have been unconscious. At this point it would take 111 points to make the playoff in the West, it is highly doubtful that pace can continue. The Preds are in 12th place, they simply need to move up 1 place per month and we make the playoffs, which is certainly possible. I hope all of the calls for firings, trades, jumping off buildings, etc can relax a little and we can let this team play hockey. I, for one, still have high hopes for how the season is going to play out.
