June 15, 2010: Blake Geoffrion Signs Nashville Predators Contract

The boisterous Granberry School classroom came to order that sweltering afternoon as one of its alumni sat down to take part in the ceremonies. Young Blake Geoffrion looked eagerly to Predators General Manager David Poile who, after a few words to the crowd, withdrew the paper that signified Blake's journey from the Centennial ice sheet to the world's greatest hockey league. He recalled youth hockey tournaments in Canada when he and his Brentwood teammates were called "hicks with sticks." He was especially excited about representing the Predators, whose games he had followed his young life from Section 306. Three years later, Blake's hockey career may be coming to a much too early end. But let's remember that day as one of the brightest in Nashville's hockey history.
