How unhappy was the Predators' captain at the way last night's encounter with Phoenix was going?
Let's just say it was a shattering experience for him.
Steam was practically rising off Weber and, in the second period, he sent a slap shot that punched out the glass that separated quaking fans in Section 120 from his on-ice wrath. Coyote goalie Jason LaBarbera no doubt heaved a heavy sigh of relief that the shot was well wide of the goal. Weber's teammates probably were, too. Remember that a couple of years ago Weber sent Martin Erat, Jordin Tootoo and David Legwand to IR when they happened to get in the way of his shots--all within a six-month period.
The Bridgestone Arena crew promptly made repairs, serenaded by Blondie's "Heart of Glass." And the (still shivering) fans in Section 120 got a nice, new window to watch the game turn into what radio color analyst Stu Grimson accurately described as a "debacle."
