The language is Punjabi, part of the stream-of-conscious play-by-play style of Bhola Chauhan who calls CBC's weekly telecast of Hockey Night in Canada for the nation's 1.1 million citizens of Punjabi descent.

In today's New York Times Chauhan's loud shouts in reaction to a Toronto are quoted as he credited wing Joffrey Lupol for what translates as "picking up the wood," a traditional {unjabi battle cry: "Chak de phatte gooooaaalll Joffrey Lupol! Toronto Maple Putayyyy!"
