St. Louis Blues 1, Nashville Predators 0: Shut Out Again

Frederick Breedon

Boasting a lineup chock full of AHL callups, the Nashville Predators were shut out for a league-leading eighth time, allowing the St. Louis Blues to leave town with a 1-0 victory in front of the smallest crowd (15,063) of the season at Bridgestone Arena.

Yup, this wasn't pretty, folks.

The only goal came on an Alexander Steen slapper which beat Pekka Rinne through the 5-hole, while Nashville was out-shot by a 26-15 margin.

Sure, the Predators lost, but at least Vince Gill was beating the blues tonight over at the Ryman...

Random Observations

  • In a game so devoid of offensive chances for Nashville, it's hard to single out any forwards who had a strong game. Craig Smith had some shots, but also a facepalm-inducing giveaway in the defensive znoe as the team was attempting a comeback late in the third period.
  • Pekka Rinne played a generally strong game but I'm sure he'd want the Steen goal back, he saw it all the way but just got beat. Behind this team, there's simply no margin for error.
  • Overall the team defense wasn't bad, however. Considering how much time the Preds spent pinned in their end of the ice, this could have been MUCH worse. I wouldn't have been surprised to see this team beaten 6-0 tonight, but they kept the game close.
