Profile

Josh Ho Sang, a center for the Windsor Spitfires, brings some of the greatest offensive talent in the 2014 NHL Draft class. With his impressive speed, hands, creativity, and vision, he has everything you would want in a playmaking forward. His drawbacks include a lack of discipline at times and his play in the defensive zone; both of those things should change over time, however. He could also stand to put on some size but he has two more years of development to go in the OHL so he has time to do that as well.

Ho Sang will be one of the more interesting players to watch in the draft. He certainly has been a quick riser all season long. He could sneak into the top ten, should he have a strong post-season and should a team be willing to take a chance on him.

Quotes

"Josh is a high-energy forward with excellent speed and quickness," NHL Director of Central Scouting Dan Marr said. "He's got a dynamic game with the puck and is capable of making the plays at top speed. He offers very good puck control and playmaking ability through traffic."

- Mike Morreale, NHL.com

"He handles the puck very well at top speed and sees the ice well," Central Scouting's Chris Edwards told NHL.com. "His skating is excellent and his first step is explosive. He cuts to the middle often and can split the defense with surprising speed. He just needs to control his temper; he has the tendency to take undisciplined penalties."

Video

Normally I try to show more than one video for some different perspectives but, for Ho Sang, this is the only one you need. In this six point night, he showcases his aforementioned offensive ability and leaves you with your mouth wide open with some of the things he can do with the puck.

Where He Would Fit

Josh Ho Sang has the potential to be a very capable offensive forward once he gets to the NHL, potentially making a nice match for a Predators team that is looking to get more dynamic and offensive. His speed could also mesh well with the Nashville speedsters such as Craig Smith and Gabriel Bourque.

Having said that, at their current position, the Predators won't be around to draft Ho Sang. The highest I would feel comfortable picking him is around the number ten spot but Nashville appears destined for a higher pick than that. There are several of teams in front of the Predators that have around the same amount of points, however, so it's not entirely out of the question.
