Ok it is time to celebrate a little about Pekka coming back but let us be cautious. We all know he was great before the injuries maybe even Olympic caliber but he has only had a few practices and a couple of AHL games. Now with that said he may come back in a blaze of glory but let's not forget who has been holding the line while he was gone.
Carter Hutton was thrown to the wolves earlier this year with little Experience outside of the AHL but with each game he got better which in itself is not that big of a deal because that happens with experience. It was all the big saves that made the difference. We may have a slight chance of a playoff spot but if it wasn't for some stellar saves in some big games maybe there would have been no chance at all.
So while we celebrate Pekkas return let's give some credit because all of the bad play in front of Hutton would be enough to make even Rinne look like a high school goalie. No goalie with maybe the exception of Ryan Miller has been able to cover for so much bad play such as your own players deflecting the puck over their goalie who shouldn't have had to do anything because the shots were off the mark to begin with. This has happened to Hutton so many times I'm surprised he did not beat his own guys down with his stick. To maintain composure when your being facewashed by your own guys in front is amazing.
There have been mistakes by Hutton of course but a lot was bad team play, remember all the missed passes that ended up in front of the net with only the other team around it. Pekka would have problems with that too. So let's not think that a man who only got to play a handful of games before injuries is going to come in and steamroll the NHL because he can still have rust.
Again I'm glad he is back but maybe we should just get him ready for next season not throw the rest of this one on his back because his replacement has done pretty well considering this year has exploded with problems. Welcome back Pekka, best of luck. Carter, well done so far. GO PREDS!!!L!L
