So we have a new coach now...that's pretty exciting, right? I'd like to go on record with my endorsement of this pick. Going with an experienced coach with a championship resume shows that ownership and management are expecting to be a contender immediately. Hiring somebody's assistant or an AHL coach or whatever would've sent a very different message, so I'm encouraged by what's happening. Are there still some roster issues? Sure, but getting the coaching team assembled early will put the entire group in a better position to evaluate what needs to be done. And hey, if it doesn't work out in a year or two, we can always move on to the next guy. We've just come out of a long-term relationship...maybe we should just date for awhile and see what happens. Did we get an official "obviously" count? I didn't see one here...seems like a bit of a miss, journalistically.
