Interesting - Rotoworld reports that the Preds have been talking to the Flyers about a trade:
"The Philadelphia Flyers were reportedly very close to trading center Vincent Lecavalier to Nashville Monday.
The terms of the proposed deal are not known, but it's being reported that the Predators were very close to taking on the next two years of a deal that pays the forward for two more beyond that, but the pact hit a snag and the deal fell through. It's no secret that Philly would like to rid itself of the veteran forward in order to create much-needed cap space, but they have yet to find any takers"
Clearly a player on the decline (last five years point totals (70, 54, 49, 32 in strike season and 37 this year.) Another concern is his +/- which has been negative mostly. That notwithstanding it pleases me that GMDP is looking at all options. Tomorrow all hell breaks loose - my priorities are Moulson, Johansen (via trade) and Perrault. I don't think that Iginla or Stastny will be valid options.
The Preds need at least one quality scorer to add and preferably two. We have plenty of value to trade - guys like Wilson, Beck, Salomaki and Watson can draw interest in the trade market. In the case of the latter three they can be promoted if holes become available on the Nashville roster.
I am not in favor of tampering too much with the defense, at least at the Nashville level. Blue line prospects are a different story. Who do you all think we should get that is attainable?
