Enhance Your Experience: Learn to Play Hockey
In the third and final chapter of our Enhance Your Experience series (sponsored by Samsung), I wanted to emphasize something that many people don't consider - taking up the game of hockey as an adult, even if you've never put on a pair of skates in your life. There are plenty of NHL fans, even in Original Six cities, who have never played a minute of ice hockey, but that doesn't have to be the case. Trust me when I say that once you get out there and play, it adds an extra layer of appreciation for the phenomenal talent and athletic ability displayed by the pros on a nightly basis.
After the jump, I'll walk you through what you'll need to get your hockey playing career launched. You'd be surprised at how easy it is to get started; and then, how hard it is to stop...

Enhancing the fan experience: Bring your kids to a game
Today's installment of the "Enhance Your Experience" series (part 2 of 3, sponsored by Samsung) focuses on an aspect of hockey fandom which I've really grown to appreciate over the last few years; taking your kids to an NHL game. When I first considered buying a partial season ticket plan with the Nashville Predators during the Great Rally of 2007, the idea of attending 13 games seemed a daunting one. With 3 small kids in our house, the babysitting alone would probably equal the price of the tickets for my wife & I to go, and buying 5 tickets was simply out of the question.
After a quick conversation with the Mrs., however, we hit upon the ideal solution - getting two seats, and taking turns going to the games. Babysitting costs are minimized, since we only need one when she & I go to a game (usually we'll pick a Saturday night game and get dinner downtown beforehand), and perhaps most importantly, it provides for rare 1-on-1 time with each of the kids. Believe me, it's much easier to enjoy a game when you've got one little urchin in tow, rather than playing zone defense all night because you're outnumbered 3-to-2.

Enhancing your hockey experience: in-game online puck talk
One of the great innovations in hockey-watching in recent years is the explosion of mobile internet access, which allows the fan attending a game to access, well, pretty much the entire sum of human knowledge. That can be a daunting amount of information to sift thought, so how do you get to the important stuff, like hockey talk?
As noted over at Lighthouse Hockey, sometimes when you're at a Nashville Predators game you can easily miss an important development, and replays can be scant or nonexistent at times. So what to do? Rely on your friendly online community of fellow hockey fans to help you out...
