Frame By Frame Analysis
Into the Film Room: Joel Ward's game winning goal against Minnesota
In last night's win, all eighteen skaters and Pekka Rinne stayed engaged, but at no time was this evidenced more than by Joel Ward's first period goal.
After the jump, breaking down Ward's ninth goal of the season, this one against his former team.
Into the Film Room: David Legwand's 1st period goal against Detroit
Patric Hornqvist is a goalscorer. When he's not scoring, it's fair game to critique and complain. That said, there's quite a bit more nuance to his game than just banging in garbage goals, and he had a spectacular game on Wednesday night, despite only registering an assist.
After the jump, take a break for a moment from the Mike Fisher madness, and let's have a look at David Legwand's goal from the big win over Detroit.
Into the Film Room: Sergei Kostitsyn's 2nd period goal against Detroit
I'll admit, it's nice to be able to write one of these features after the Predators have won a game. In a loss, I usually choose to go with a defensive breakdown or some such to fit the mood. Tonight, though, is quite the opposite. Last night against Detroit, Sergei Kostitsyn gave us a shorthanded marker that exceeded even Colin Wilson's highlight reel goal against the Avalanche.
We'll take a look at it after the jump.
Into the Film Room: Cory Sarich's 3rd period goal against Nashville
This is not how I wanted this feature to return. Preferably, its reincarnation would've come on a dazzling marker by Sergei Kostitsyn or a rocket from Shea Weber. Instead, we are subject to one of the worst brain lapses of the season, in the form of Colin Wilson losing his man at the point.
After the jump, taking a frame-by-frame look at Cory Sarich's goal from last night.
Into the Film Room: Rick Nash's 2nd period goal against Nashville
In last night's shutout loss to division rivals Columbus, both goals against came off odd-man rushes, which is a disappointing thing, but not necessarily because a defenseman misplayed the rush. Very often, the breakdown begins at the very beginning of the play, which is what springs the opposition into attack.
Follow after the jump for an example of this on Rick Nash's 2nd period goal.
Into the Film Room: Shane O'Brien's 2nd period goal against Chicago
Into the Film Room is a feature in which we'll break down a key play from the previous game on a frame-by-frame basis, be it a goal, goal against, or outstanding defensive play.
As the Predators are getting back to their winning ways, more positive plays are available for us to break down and show you just how things came about. In today's frame-by-frame analysis, we're going to take a quick look at Shane O`Brien's 2nd period goal against the Blackhawks on Saturday. The marker had fans raving over Marcel Goc's play, and justifiably so, but was something besides O'Brien and Goc a key component? Follow below to find out.
Into the Film Room: Cal O'Reilly's 2nd period goal against St. Louis
Into the Film Room is a feature in which we'll break down a key play from the previous game on a frame-by-frame basis, be it a goal, goal against, or outstanding defensive play.
At long last, we come to a positive edition of our frame-by-frame analysis. The Nashville Predators finally broke their losing streak last night in a 3-2 victory over the St. Louis Blues. It wasn't that pretty, but it was a win - and at the end of the day, those are the only things that matter.
After the jump, we'll look at the Preds' first goal from last night via Cal O`Reilly. There was some poor defense from the Blues, but most of all it was a great play from O'Reilly and Patric Hornqvist to storm the net and create problems for St. Louis...
Into the Film Room: Paul Mara's game winner against Nashville
Into the Film Room is a feature in which we'll break down a key play from the previous game on a frame-by-frame basis, be it a goal, goal against, or outstanding defensive play. Previous editions can be found here (10/18), here (10/15), here (10/25), here (10/29), and here (11/1).
With the past five Nashville Predators games all being losses, there aren't many positives to draw from, and today's video review is no different. The Predators were tied with Anaheim with less than 2 seconds to go in Sunday's game when a bad mistake from team captain Shea Weber led to Paul Mara scoring the game winning goal.
