Detroit will host Anaheim to open the 2010-2011 season with the puck dropping on October 8th. The game will be in Detroit at Joe Louis Arena. The Red Wings will kick off the season with one of their biggest rivals in the Western Conference and an Anaheim team that is difficult to beat with Jonas Hiller in net. The remaining regular season schedule will be released tomorrow at noon.

NJ.com reports the Devils will open their season against the Dallas Stars on Friday, October 8th at the Prudential Center. We assume this will be the Stars opener. It will be their first road opener since 2007 when they visited the Colorado Avalanche. Will this trip up north east include other stops before a home opener? Can they get some of their travel out of the way first thing? Can they parlay this into a "good start"? The rest of the schedule will be revealed tomorrow at 11am CDT. [Update] Andrews DSP says the home opener will be October 14th against the hated Red Wings.

With the State Fair to contend with, along with the two games to open the season in Helsinki (Oct 7th and 8th), the Hurricanes announced today that the RBC Center home opener will be held on October 27th against the Washington Capitals. The rest of the schedule for the season will follow with the official NHL announcements tomorrow.
