Nashville Predators President of Hockey Operations/General Manager David Poile announced today that the club has recalled forward Cal O’Reilly from the Milwaukee Admirals of the American Hockey League. This is the first NHL recall for O’Reilly, Nashville’s fourth choice, 150th overall (fifth round), in the 2005 Entry Draft.
O’Reilly, 22 (9/30/86), ranks second in the AHL in assists (46), and 10th in points (57). With his first of two assists in last night’s 4-2 Milwaukee victory over Quad City, the Toronto, Ont., native notched his 200th AHL point, and now has 201 points (45g-156a) in 217 games. The 6-0, 187-pound center was one of three Admirals to play in the 2009 AHL All-Star Classic on Jan. 26. In 80 games a season ago, O’Reilly ranked third in AHL assists (63) and fifth in points (79).
According to John Glennon at the Tennessean, O'Reilly will make his NHL debut tonight regardless of whether Martin Erat is able to play, which won't be determined until the pre-game skate.
