Shea Weber selected for NHL All-Star Game

New, comments

The NHL announced the "All-Star Fantasy Pool" for this year's game, which will take place Sunday, January 30th in Raleigh, North Carolina. This year, the Preds will be represented by their captain Shea Weber, who makes his second appearance in the mid-season classic. In a twist, the captains (who will be selected by the All-Stars themselves) for each team will pick the teams from this total roster just two days before the game takes place.

He leads the team in scoring, starred for Canada at the Winter Olympics a year ago, and will return to to the All-Star Game after a hiatus due to those Olympics. The question is, can he defeat Zdeno Chara in the Hardest Slapshot competition?

And perhaps more interestingly, did the Preds deserve more representation? What about Anders Lindback representing the rookies, or veterans Pekka Rinne and Ryan Suter? Did they get jobbed? After all, only 1 goalie (Jonas Hiller of Anaheim) was chosen from the Western Conference, along with 5 from the East. Huh?
