Josh Cooper of The Tennessean sent out some disappointing news via Twitter just now:
Marcel Goc left the February 17 home game against Vancouver early in the 2nd period, holding his left arm after taking a nasty spill into the boards. It's been a rough season for Goc, as he separated his right shoulder back in October after a vicious boarding by Nicklas Backstrom of the Washington Capitals.
This is a troubling development for the Preds, as it (once again) guts the 3-line approach to offense that this team was supposed to be built around. Recently, Colin Wilson has been moved back to center behind Mike Fisher and David Legwand, but it's probably asking too much for Wilson to shift gears like that this late in the season after playing wing all along (especially when it comes to the playoffs).
Does this perhaps put David Poile in the hunt to acquire a center on the trade market? Should Chris Mueller or someone else get recalled from Milwaukee, or do they stand pat and focus on trying to win 2-1 or 1-0 every night? How about putting Nick Spaling back in the middle of the 4th line?
To get a gauge on what's buzzing around all of the SB Nation hockey blogs regarding the trade market, head over to SBN's Trade Deadline Hub:
Hold on tight, Predators fans, because this ride is getting really bumpy...
