Friday's notes: Honoring the life of Wade Belak

If you buy something from an SB Nation link, Vox Media may earn a commission. See our ethics statement.

Smashville is obviously still in mourning, and today I'd just like to encourage Predators fans to consider making a charitable donation to a scholarship fund for Wade Belak's daughters, or the effort  headed up by Puckscene to benefit the charity Wade was going to support on "Battle of the Blades".

While you ponder whether to make a contribution, you can listen to this wonderful tribute that was aired on 104.5 The Zone yesterday, and follow after the jump for your morning hockey news.

I'll give Deadspin some credit for being bang-on here; rather than focus on Byfuglien's weight, as I just did, this should be treated as seriously as a drunk-driving arrest, a serious lapse of judgment that endangered lives.
