Sunday's Dump & Chase: A Return to "Predator Hockey"

New, comments

Which I interpret to mean "perfect goaltending and hope for a happy accident on offense". The Predators currently sit at 10th in the West, with an eight point gap between them and the 8th spot. Do you have confidence they can close that gap? Should the 8th playoff spot even be considered an achievement? Some are saying "there's been so many games on the road…now with a good stretch at home, they'll be able to make up some serious ground". Really? The Preds are 5-3-1 at home (translation: 5-4). Not exactly a record that indicates some overwhelming home-ice advantage that will push them into the playoff picture. Their 52 goals are dead last in the West, and their -15 goal differential is ahead of only Calgary and Edmonton. How deep are those two squads going in the playoffs this year? As much as we enjoyed the last couple of wins, I think what we're learning is that this team is going to be streaky-good AND streaky-bad…which is a horrible combination. (If you have a moment, check out the OTF Virtual Food Drive for Second Harvest of Middle Tennessee. We hit our goal, which is FANTASTIC…but we're gonna keep it rolling! Every donation helps, and nothing is too small…even a donation of $1 provides FOUR MEALS to members of our community who really need the help. Thanks!)
